After excisional breast biopsy - scar tissue?

I had an excisional biopsy back in December and had a follow-up with my surgeon two weeks later. He said everything went fine and he completely removed the lump. I felt fine (except for the mild discomfort of healing from surgery) up until the past week or two where I've started having what feels like little tinges or pinches every once in awhile in the same area where the incision was made. I thought I felt a lump in the area but I'm wondering if it may be scar tissue - if anyone else has had an excisional biopsy I would sure be glad to hear of your recovery experience.

Did you have any of these sensations I'm getting? Or should I be concerned and call my doctor to schedule another check-up in case there's a new lump (these twinges are kind of what I was feeling when I discovered the removed lump in the first place, along with nipple sensations/itches)...but it's only been three months, I don't know if its possible a new benign lump could have formed and started bothering me already in that same area and it seems a strange coincidence that it's right where the old incision is. I'm thinking it has something to do with healing from the surgery but as this was my first time I don't really know what to expect. Are the feelings normal, and will they go away with time?

I also have lost a lot of nipple sensation since the biopsy 3 months ago and I'm not sure if this is normal and how long it should take to return. The skin responds to cold and to touch but I just don't really feel anything.

Any info you could share about excisional biopsy recovery and what to really expect would be much appreciated. :)

Twinges are to be expected. I have them where I still have feeling after my little lumpectomy. Numbness is to be expected too. After all, nerves were cut! I have that too, over about 1/3 of my breast. Be happy it was benign! You should have some followup, but maybe not for 6 months or even a year. If nothing was scheduled, call and ask about it. It will at least ease your mind if they say you don't need anything.

Even this little surgery could possibly cause post-traumatic-stress-syndrome. It would be expected if the lump was malignant. I found a local cancer caring group to go to to talk with women who have had similar experiences. They'll all be worse than you, many stage 4, but they can answer your questions and give you some support.

hey sunnidaze....i experiencing the same thing you are with your breast.  I had a double biopsy four weeks ago and they came back benign.  Now I did have the twinging and pinching in my breast and that has since stopped.  Now on Monday of this week, my left breast was extremely sore and very tender.  As this week progress the tenderness has decreased tremendously and the swollen are or lump or scar tissue seems to have gotten smaller.  I contacted my surgeon and he wants me to come in on Monday 11/14/11.

Thank you for posting your experience and I really think it is just scar tissue.  However I want to let my doctor knnow so he can examine me.

I just stumbled on this thread myself after trying to locate some images of what my breast might look or feel like after my surgery in two days. I have a BIRADS 4, they attempted a core biopsy first and were not successful due to the location of my tumor. BTW please forgive my spelling on these terms, this is all completely new to me. I am 36, have 3 little boys myself and have had fibrous tissue in both my breasts for at least 6 years. The tumors were discovered after lymph nodes under both my arms got really big and sore and my breasts started hurting at the same time. Ultrasound was clear but the mammogram showed the cluster. In two days I go under the knife for a surgical biopsy (the details of which horrify me to my very soul) and then it's another waiting period to find out if it's benign or malignant.
I can't say I have any clue what to expect afterward, I think the fear I'm feeling is overwhelming and almost completely blocking the rest of my senses. It's literally like a concrete block in my head that's keeping the wheels from spinning :/ And I also can't tell anymore if I'm more scared of all the needles and hooks and the pain or of finding out that I might have cancer.
I would love to know how your 4-week visit turned out when you started experiencing all the intense pain and swelling.
