I had breast cancer 2 years ago. had a lumpectomy and had 5 nodes removed. Underwent radiation and last mammo was fine. I did have some nerve damage at the incision location but it did get better. I just noticed that the area under my arm, where the incision is very swollen and hurts. I don't feel a lumo but the pain goes into my armpit as well. Can you develope lympohdema this late? Or.. what else could it be. Prof

Lymphedema can develop late. It is my understanding that the longer you go without developing lymphedema, the less likely you are to get it. I've known a couple of women who developed problems several years (5+) after their lymph node dissections.

I think you should consult your doctor. It could any number of things, including an infection. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply. I see my oncologist tomorrow. Is there anything you can for this?
