I thought it would be easier to start a new thread related to the Tamoxifen, rather than bury it in my clutter.
Most likely, when my 5 years of Tamoxifen is over, I will be set free. At 36 and pre-menopausal, femara is not an option for me. When I last asked my onc about shutting down my ovaries to go onto an AI med, he said that it was too soon to determine if there were any benefits, and he would probably not recommend it for me.
So, if that is the case, I will be on no further meds. WHile I love the sound of that, we all know it is a little scary and the vulnerability is there.
When I see him next month, I want to ask if it is ok to stop a couple months early. My main side effect is weight gain, but also I have dryness and I think it has impacted my hair a little too. I have no real problems though and feel so fortunate that I have had the option to take Tamoxifen, and even more fortunate to be basically free of side effects. I would do it again in a heartbeat. But now that I am nearing the end, I am itchy to get off of it and see if these pounds melt off....
