Update on Mom

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts for my Mother, me and mine.  She returned to her room at 9:30 pm last evening.  It was a very long day for her.  Mom has severe o steoporosis, but they found some stable bone to at least repair the break.  She will never return to her previous condition which wasn't that strong.  She will be on a walker and in a wheelchair combination for tooling around if she heals.  The Drs. are in a wait and see mode before any comments about healing.  She will need to go from assisted living to patient care during healing and then back to assisted living (we pray).  That will take about 2-3 months.  In some ways it is good news and in others it is frustrating and very sad.  She has been ill for many years and suffered pain everyday of that time.  She is a strong woman, but we all have our breaking points.  I pray for peace and comfort for her.  I know He is listening and will be with her and us giving us grace and peace. It is difficult to deal with problems of aging. It sounds like your mother may not be able to get around without a lot of help which is hard to accept. At least she is willing to be helped, or at least it sounds that way since she was in assisted living care. My mother will be 92 in May and her health is really pretty good considering, however we are realizing she has some blank times and she absolutely refuses to move from her independent apartment where she is 50 miles from any family members. I worry about her falling or getting hurt and no one thinks to check on her. She feels she doesn't want to leave her "friends" but friends are not responsible for her care. No matter what the situation, elder care is a problem. I will keep your mom in my prayers and hope she heals and can get around well enough to make her happy. Hugs MK

I pray for her and you.  I'm hoping all our prayers granted.  Hope you're able to sleep and help yourself.  Don't' you have a surgery coming up yourself?

Candy,

Hoping by now things are looking up for your mom. My mom is nearing 84 and still lives in her own apartment and drives, but I know there will come a day when that won't happen too. Their independence is so important to them.  Prayers for strength for you to deal with the choices that lie ahead and your mom to accept them.

Candy,

I will also pray that your mom finds the peace and comfort you both seek. I know this is a tough time for both of you, so know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you both.
