All:
I have had a previous occurance of b/c in my right breast. I
I've been fine for 12.5 years - YAY. However, I recently
had a breast MRI and ultrasound done for something
in my left breast (which is fine) and much to my surprise
they found what they are calling a complex
cyst in my right breast . This has been discovered at a very well know
cancer center. I have YET to see a doctor, I have only
seen the nurse practitioner. When I suggested that
I thought it should be biopsied, she said, "oh, you want
to schedule a biopsy?" I was stunned. I should have
been discussing with a doctor and they should have
been suggesting to me. They just want to repeat the
tests in 6 months at this point. I have since been referred
to another surgeon, same facility, and have made an
appointment to see him in person. He comes very highly recomended. The n/p had the nerve
to tell me that there wasn't any medical necessity to see
a doctor at this point. Are they f'n kidding me??? I am a
breast cancer survivor with a growth of some kind in the
affected breast. I WANT IT REMOVED - NOW.
I'll report back once I see him.
The moral of this story - DO NOT ACCEPT ADVICE FROM
ANYONE, INCLUDING A DOCTOR, IF IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
TO YOU.
You MUST advocate for yourself and be assertive. You may
end up pissing people off, but who cares? It's your health
and possibly your life in the balance.
Good luck to everyone who is currently waiting for results,
undergoing treatment and in remission.
