starting new chemo today

I start on Taxotere today.  I'm hoping the side effects will be minimal.  They were not bad with the other combo I was taking.  The onc. said they should be less with this one.  I've started having hot flashes at night and haven't had a period since Christmas.  But, I'm getting my old energy back and that's great! yeah

 

I've applied for a new position at work, so I'm hoping I get it.  It's more of an office job with no public contact.  That's what I really want.  Plus, I hate answering phones. 

 

DH is doing fine.  He's counting the days until the cast comes off - March 15! 

 

Other than that, we are just trying to stay dry.  The rain here is just horrible and there is no end in site!!!

Here's hoping you do well with your new chemo. I have not had any experience with it, so I can only wish you well. Glad to hear hubby is doing well. Hope you get the new job! You sound really good and positive. What a girl! Hugs. MK

Hi, I had taxotere and other than aches in the joints I was fine. One thing I noticed was the toll it took on my fingernails. This is not a vanity issue for me. The problem mine have been giving me is that they want to split straight down into the finger and its not fun. I would recommend asking if your dr. knows of any treatment you can give your fingernails to prevent this. I was told by someone that they used something in a little blue bottle and it kept hers fine. She could not remember the name. I asked if she drank it or put it on her fingernails, and she assured me she applied it to her fingernails. Just checking! LOL  Wish I had known about this. I did not lose any hair with this treatment, infact my hair grew while on it. Good luck and let us know how it goes. L&H Joyce

Kathy, I did not do that treatment either but it sounds like you have everything under control and a great attitude. I hope this treatment is easy for you and you get that new position at work.
