OK, a strange request from someone who so frequently visits the board these days....but I seem to remember we were going to try a meeting in Cleveland and it was postponed.

I was wondering if anyone is planning anything else?

I do lurk a bit when I can (funny life just grabs you again and throws you back into hectic mode after it slows down for cancer) and if I was a better person I would actually post and e-mail.

You know, a few days ago I felt a lump in my "good" breast and had Greg feel it to confirm I wasn't imagining it.  Well, that was a mistake!  He said he definately felt something and then he COMPLETELY broke down.  Seems he repressed a few feelings.........

The good news is that the lump went away, so I am assuming it was one of those fibroids (but you can be d@mn sure I am getting it checked anyway!!) and it did help us talk about some of the emotions he had.

So, back to the first topic, is there an upcoming meeting?

Nice to see you again! There has been some rumblings of a Spring gathering, but nothin' happening yet. Anyone else got any thoughts?

I mentioned maybe going to Cincy area in May and Lauri suggested something around there. Or Columbus or even Cleveland or Indianapolis? When? I have no real plans but can work around others. Let's see what is suggested. Hugs MK

Hey I'm up for y'all to come to Ohio!  And remember Deb (cupycake) and I are close to Amish country.  We could show everyone around!  Well maybe I shouldn't speak for her.  And I won't be done with rads until the first week of May but I would be up for it I think.  Or, if you're more in the mood for metropolis my DH is from Columbus so I could help out there too.

 

I'm ready to meet all my cyber breast friends!

Any of the above places sounds good to me. Mia, I would love helping with a get together in Amish country, only thing is the closest airport is Akron/Canton and I am not sure how inconvenient that might be for some of the out of staters since it would probably be around an hour drive to get to Amish country.

I will be watching to see what everyone thinks. It would be so nice to find a place that would compare to the facilities we had in Louisville.........that place was just perfect!!!!

I know we discussed it and I hope we can get it planned. June would be a better month for me. I would love to see everyone again and because so many of us are from Ohio, Ohio seems to be the place to plan. I would be more than happy to be part of the Ohio planning committee. Love to you all, Candy

Ohio is good for me, driving distance is easier than flying....remember, we don't need lots of activities or sightseeing....just a nice place to hang out. That is what I loved about MB....we had those great condo units to hang out, eat, drink, play games, eat, drink, cry, eat, drink....just to be with each other.....

So if we can find a place with suites or something...and I liked that we went out for dinner and another time brought in a pizza. That made for nice variety.

And we'll hoist a bag of CHEE-TOHS in Susan's honor....

What I would give for Bob to show some repressed feelings!!!!!  So glad you had the opportunity to experience real stuff together, and that the lump seems to have gone.  Please keep us posted. 

 

Wherever we go, I'm probably going to up and go again, so I think June's going to be better, too.   Let's just make sure there's a roundhouse nearby, yes?????    Have Greg check out which cities have roundhouses left, and then we'll push for that place!!!!!  (Wouldn't it be a hoot if that acutally happened?)  Candy, you in on it?????

 

I don't think the Amish take trains, do they?

Amish take trains and anything else. They just do not drive anything but a horse and buggy. LOL Ok enough of that lesson.

I'm anxious to see everyone again, too. Ohio is an easy place for me. But, we need a date. Mother is getting itchy feet and is anxious to hit the road as soon as we can. Let's pick a date. My suggestion is April 29-31 (if that puts us far enough from Passover) or May 6-8 (before Mother's Day). We will be heading for Indiana for Memorial Day weekend as the guys have tickets for the 500 again. MK, when are you planning your trip to Ohio??? Let's get going on this before it gets any later. I need some real hugs, Lauri

Passover lasts a week, so although any observances may be distant, food choice may be limited. Plus some people do observe for the end of Passover too, so it may be best to wait till after the holiday is over. I too will not be around Memoiral Day weekend....what about early June, if May is too soon?

Well, I definitely want to come, wherever it is. I missed out on the two LVs, and I've made up my mind I'm not going to miss this one. So just point me in the right direction, give me the date, and I'll be there!

Ok, let the voting begin.  I selfishly suggest June 1st through the 5th.  Any combination of days is fine with me.  Columbus has it's big art festival that week-end.  It is a fun thing to do.  We could stay close to an area that offers lots of shopping, resturants (great Italian, Mexican, Pizza joints you name it, Columbus is restaurant test city.  We even have a Cheeseburger in Papradise for you parrot heads.), parks if we want to do parks, a great zoo and science center, if we do Columbus we are only 2 hours from Amish country and we have art galleries, Busch brewries that give great tours if you are into beer etc, etc.  So ladies, let's vote!!!! I definately want to come, but I can't be sure. I am now paying my debts back at between 500- and 700 per month. I'm really trying and it takes all of my extra money. I know I can't go on the 30th of April. It's my dad's birthday and I will be in Chicago.

That seems to be a popular weekend. Something else always come up. Last year **** was here on that date. I can't believe it's been a year. Doesn't time move quickly when you don't want it to?

May or June would be fine if I can come. I was about to make my June scan appointments. Yuck. Maybe we will have a date by then. Then there is the Indy gyn. appointment in June. I will try to wait on making appointments. I am supposed to do it soon though.

I too loved MK and KY . Everything was right there. KY was especially easy to get to , sorry Gail. Not for you.

I just want to see everyone again so much.

May is a better month for me, but I will do my best to be wherever whenever. I suggested May since MK said she was going to be in the Cincy area that month. I can do Columbus, Cincy or Cleveland easily from here. Lauri

Ok I'm ready for this to start taking shape.  Here are some questions we need to address and then we should be able to make some headway from there.

 

OHIO?

 

IF OHIO, WHICH LARGER CITY, CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS OR CINCI?

 

WHAT MONTH, MAY, JUNE, JULY OR AUGUST?

 

Each of those above cities have large airports, good transportation, night life, restaurants and shopping.  Personally I live 1 hour from Cleveland, 2 from Columbus and 4 from Cinci.  But I would travel 20 hours to meet all of you!  So please don't let my travel interfere, I will do whatever is necessary to make it wherever you all go.  DH lived in Columbus for 8 years and we both love it there.  Great food and every store imaginable.

 

Let's start by narrowing down the state and city and maybe that will help everyone to get an idea of if they can come.  Then we can work out dates.

 

(I'm not being pushy am I?, if so someone hit me with a wet pink boa!)

You are not being pushy at all, we really need to be thinking seriously about this. (and no wet boas will be slung either, lol)

Does your husband have any ideas of a good place to stay if we were to meet in Columbus? Anybody like Kenny Chesney? I think he is having a concert at the Value City Arena on May 26 & 27 with Gretchen Wilson. Being the country music buff that I am, that sounds interesting.

Just wondering.

I thought that the party was going to be at Cathi's house in Cleveland?

 We could go to an Indian's game and party down at the flats. And is there still shops downtown.  There is also the Hall of Fame that even my 79 and 80 year old parents liked. 

 My request is that we keep in mind that some of us are hurting and weaker then others so keep that in mind while trying to plan big events and driving to points of interest.  I hope that came out right. 

If we do it in Cincinnati then I can get a list of hotels.  Personally I would look for them at the North end of the city.  Better location and more shops and resturants.  Also the last hotel that we got together at has been closed down if I am not mistaken due to shootings.  Gee, Sharonville is going to hell in a handbasket.  I do know of a great quilt shop in Maderia and of course I know where some great places to eat are.

I think what is most important is a city that is easy to access and a nice place to hang, such as suites a nice hotel. That way, those who wish to take an excursion can do so, and those who wish to hang back can do so....we want to avoid schedules and a rigid list. That was one great thing about MB....we could do our own things or gather, or some of both.
Maybe those gals in Ohio (since that seems to be where we may gravitate) can do a little looking for hotels, and see if any sound like they can accommodate 25 or 30 of us in the manner to which we have become accustomed....and then we can decide based on ammenities??

MiaB, I like your style!! I obviously live close to Cincy, but my vote would be for Columbus. That is very doable depending on the date, Cleveland would be a push for me, but I wouldn't rule it out. Gail, you remember Cincy don't you. Where ever it is I hope everyone can make it, it's so very nice to get those in person hugs!
