What a sad day it is.  We've lost the Pope.  His suffering is over and heaven has been blessed with his soul.

I know he will rest in peace. He sure was the most "common man's" pope in my lifetime. I am not catholic but I have appreciated him in so many ways. I think the world was better for having him in the position for many years. MK

I feel so blessed to have been able to be a part of the Catholic Church during some of his Papacy.  He was a fine man, loving, forgiving, faithful.  My prayers are with all people left behind that need to mourn and then elect a new leader of the Church.  I know the Lord will be with them while making their decisions. I am not a Catholic, but believe the world has lost a fine, devout and courageous man. People may not have always agreed with his views, but he was admired worldwide as a person of peace. Rest in peace, John Paul.

No matter what religion you are I think everyone would agree the world is a better place because of him.

I am not Catholic either, but I have always loved this man and have been praying for him. I've been listening to all of the wonderful stories about him. The world has truly lost someone wonderful. Heaven must be rejoicing at his homecoming tonight. Love, Di

I'm not catholic, either, but I was very moved when he led prayers when he couldn't speak well.  I really admired his courage and drive and faith.

I am a cradle Catholic.  And you are so right, he was a good man.  I cried today all the way home from work.  I knew it was coming, I knew he was ill, I knew he had lived a good life, but it was sad.  So sad.  I remember when Pope Paul died and the death of Pope John Paul I so quickly after he was chosen.  With Pope John Paul II, it was a good feeling to be Catholic.  I am only 41 but I miss the Latin mass, the incense, and the head coverings we wore to church.  I loved going to mass as a child and always felt peace there.  I was pretty close to choosing the church as a vocation.  I just think that maybe the old ways were pretty good and maybe we as Catholics should not try to be "with the times" .

I admired him when he prayed in a mosque, prayed in a temple, and prayed in countless football stadiums across this land.  If there was ever a person who shouted out to the entire world to  "let go and let God " it was him.

I agree that this is a sad day for the world. What a wonderful and dynamic man. I am not Catholic but was fortunate enough to get to see the Pope on his last US visit in St. Louis. My cousin had an extra ticket. I can't describe the feeling that overcame me when he entered the center. I was in total awe. I pray that the new Pope will be as wonderful as Pope John Paul II.
