pink feathers please

Hi Ladies,my first chemo is tomorrow(scared)i would love to see some floating pink feathers and just knowing your their with me.Did any of you feel sick immediately after your treatment or did it take awhile(trying to prepare myself)  Love Tammy(possitive)

OK Where are you located? What time do we need to be there? I have an appt at 9:30 CDT in TX. Cat. Lemonz needs to look at the scheduling so we can be with you. It is more important to be with Tammy in chemo than to hold my hand during the mammo, so if need be, head there and then come keep me company while I wait??? Will that work better? I'll report in soon as I get back from hospital and let you know if I need hand holding. If it is just a matter of fuzzy photo I really can do it alone. LOL. The wonderful thing about PCE is (as we all know) we can be where ever we are needed whenever we are needed.  We will have no problem with all our stops tomorrow. I gave the pink feather brigade plenty of notice and I know they are all ready. See you tomorrow and Best of luck to everyone.  Capt. lemonz

Tammy,  I am there!  Sacramento sounds much better than here, the ground is white again!  And I will be wearing pink shorts to go with my pink boa!  But be warned the legs are so white you might be blinded by the glare!

 

And a trip to Texas on the way there will work too.  So we can be there with both you ladies tomorrow!

 

We will be holding your hand as long as you need us Tammy.  I'm sure the chemo will go fine but I understand your fright.  Are they giving you anti-nausea meds?  I've heard great things about those. 

 

Anyone else need the PCE tomorrow?

Tammy: In 2001, I had 4 rounds of A/C followed by 12 weekly taxol. The premed that were given by IV really helped. If I remember correctly, I think most of my symptoms from the first chemo were more from nerves and the dread of the treatment and the unknown than the treatment itself. Be sure and ask your onco for meds to have at home to help with the nausea. If you aren't seeing him/her tomorrow, then ask the chemo nurse. Chemo nurses are very special people. They know a lot of little tricks that the onco don't tell us. :)

Please try and stay occupied with something fun today and this evening. Tomorrow anticipation is worse than the treatment. See you tomorrow!

I'll be on the PCE too, and will say an extra prayer for you (and you too, MK) tonite! Hang in there. My husband has had chemo a dozen times, and was only sick with one treatment late in the treatment stage. He's fully recovered, and doesn't even remember being sick. The meds they give are really great and help so much! Try to think good things so you don't get your body really stressed, so that it can help heal you! See you tomorrow in Sacramento!

I had AC and then T in 2004.  The premeds helped, as did the pills afterwards.  Pizza and tomato sauce is a no no the first night.  I'll be with you sweetie

I didn't need chemo, so I cannot relate to your new experience tomorrow, but I can relate to some of your emotions. I'll be there, holding your hand and saying my prayers. Hugs, Candy

Ellen mentioned no-no to pizza or tomatoes the first night....for me, I had to say away from them around days 4-7, since i got acid reflux. Remember that we are all so very different in our response to chemo. I was told to "eat a light lunch"....so I felt fine after chemo and went out to eat a chicken sandwich. At 10:00 at night, I got nauseaus, vomitted once, and then felt fine. I had no other sickness feeling except for that 5 minutes. I learned that a light lunch really means like toast and soup, as the stomach cannot handle much after chemo.

Be sure to take the meds that they prescribe, it is much easier to control symptoms before they start. And please do not be afraid to ask the doctor if you have any symptoms....there are meds to counter most problems. Watch out for constipation too, the meds can cause problems for the first few days.

I was about to add what Lori just said.  Eat lightly following chemo, but do eat.  Also be sure to take the meds they give you right away, don't wait till you get to feeling nauseated.  Again, if what they give you doesn't help this time, be sure to let them know cause they will change.  My Dr told me there is no reason for someone to be sick with all the meds there are out there.  He was right.  I only got sick a couple of times.  Certain foods did not set right, and the smell of mexican and chinese foods turned my stomach.  Each person is different though.

We are here for you, will be aboard the PCE tomorrow.  Haven't been to Sacramento for about 5 years.  My brother used to live in Modesto.

I too am ready to get aboard the PCE and head for Sacramento. Hopefully the pink feathers flying around will distract you from all that is happening to you.

Don't be afraid to ask the docs/nurses for anything that will keep you from getting sick to your stomach. They have some really great drugs to help with that. Everyone is different in how they handle chemo. My main complaint was tiredness and being alittle nauseous for a few days after. Some foods just didn't smell right to me either, kind of like having morning sickness when you are pregnant.

Tammy:  Unfortunately for me, food was NEVER a problem. I would stop and get McDonald's for breakfast before my treatments. The chemo never really stopped me from eating. I believe that someone had mentioned this in another thread, but don't be surprised if you have problems sleeping the first night or so. The premeds (steriods) kept me awake for about 24 hrs and then I would crash hard. Sure got lots of work done those nights. lol I will see you shortly. Look for all of those pink feathers and keep positive thoughts. Also, take your cd player and some of your fav albums or a book to read. You will prob sleep thru some of the treatment.

Hi Ladies,well i made it through my first chemo treatment,and so far i feel allright.I go tomorrow for a shot for the white blood cells.Hopefully i can go through this without getting sick(pray)before i left the doctors i scooped up all the pink feathers and now i have a Boa. Tammy:  Congratulations! The first one is now history. The remainder will be so much easier as you know what you are facing. Glad to hear that you are feeling well. Please remember one thing...LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. When you feel tired, go rest. Don't resist because if you do, you will feel as though you have hit a brick wall. Remember, let your family and friends pamper you. And please be careful being around anyone that even has a little cold.

Wear that pink boa proudly!
