Hi! There are two types of "in situ" tumors. There is Lobular (LCIS) and Ductal (DCIS). Do you know which type she has been dx'ed with???
(My brother is a prostate cancer survivor. Wish I could talk him into joining Healingwell!)

Well, that is good news, then! Lobular cancer in situ is a bit of a misnomer. It is actually not cancer, but abnormal growth of cells in the lobules. Women with LCIS are a greater risk of developing breast cancer, and that risk is pretty significant (about
20%, I think), so your friend may want to consider her options, which include more frequent screening, taking hormone blockers (I'm sure you probably know what fun that can be!), or having prophylactic mastectomies. 20/100 women may not sound like a lot, but when you break it down to 1/5, that's a pretty significant #.
Hope this helps.
Hugs to your friend...
