What to expect tomorrow--FNA?

Tomorrow I go in for a Fine Needle Aspiration--joy, joy. I know I am to arrive 20-30 mins. early (which I thought was odd, but maybe it's for the local?). I'm guessing (read:hoping) I'll be examined thoroughly, then given a more in-depth u/s (though not counting on it), be numbed, and then have a needle inserted in order to draw out fluid (hopefully). Then a band-aid over the site? Anything else I'm missing?

How long does it usually take to get results back?

Sounds like what I have experienced, sans the ultra sound. Maybe they just want to make sure they have enough time to process any paperwork. Good luck and please keep us posted. Wishing you the best. Hugs, Lauri

I had a stereotactic and I had to get there 15 min early. It was for paperwork, explaining the procedure etc.. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I think your picture is correct. My daughter had it done for diagnosis purposes. The doctors were pretty sure she had a malignancy and she did. By getting the information without surgery she was able to set up her mastectomy and reconstruction to be done at the same time. It was not a big deal for her. I had a needle guided biopsy which is a little different, there the needle is placed in the spot by camera and then the lump was surgically removed. It was not a big deal, either, I would have been able to go to work the next day but I opted for a Friday to give me the weekend. Let us know how it went for you. Hugs Mary K. MK
