I had a routine mammogram/ultrasound yesterday and they found a solid hypoechoic mass measuring 6X6X4 mm with slightly irregular margins in the 9:00 periareolar right breast. Anyone have any experience/knowledge? I am having an ultrasound guided biopsy tomorrow and am a nervous wreck.

Sounds like they found a lump that isn't a cyst. More often than not, solid lumps are not cancerous. about 80% of biopsies are benign. Irregular margins are a bit more concerning than if it were regular in shape, but not a definite indication of cancer, by any means. Here's hoping it turns out to be nothing!

Thanks Bev, as I'm sure you know this has been all consuming for me. Being able to put it in words has helped tremendously and I am grateful that this site is here. Appointment is this afternoon, pathologist is on site, so I should have results today also.

Debmarie.........I know the anxiety and fear you are having. I hope your biopsy went well..........the name, 'wire guided biopsy' is enough to throw you into a state of panic' now that I re-read, not sure that is the one you were having.
In any case, I have been there and done that twice, I just wanted to see how it went for you and let you know that as a 8 3/4 (but who's counting!) year survivor..............I'm here to support you!

Thanks so much for your post. I had a core biopsy, the pathologist was in the room and didn't find anything abnormal. Lab results will be back in a few days. Keeping positive thoughts.
