Yesterday was my last rads treatment. I am now an OFFICIAL CANCER SURVIVOR!!!
I can't believe this part of the journey is over, but glad that it is. Am I the only one who cried after leaving the treatment center? I cried almost all the way home! Everyone there has been so nice - I will miss them. I took pictures, so that I can remember that day. Of course, I will be back for follow-ups, but it's different when you are there every day. It was pretty funny, because after hugging everyone and saying our good-byes, I went to the front desk to make an appt for 2 weeks from now! LOL They all appreciated the baked goodies I brought every week, even the one therapist who never treated me. He actually was the first one to hug me!
Now, to let you ladies in on something................I have been so affected by the rads therapy that I have decided to go back to school and become a rads therapist!!! I have been thinking about it and researching it since my treatments began. I've also gotten some great help from my therapist. He has offered his help to me if I need it. DH took a while to realize how serious I am, but now he is supporting the idea. I will eventually need to quit work in order to attend school full time. It will take 2-3 years, but well worth it in the end. I believe that this was the reason I got cancer in the first place - to lead me to this new path in life. Also, it will be my way of helping others and giving back from what I've learned. Wish me luck!
