Radiation schedule tweaked?

I think when my onco told me 6.5 weeks of radiation, he didn't literally mean that in weeks, he meant that in weekdays.

I finally got a full count in real math (numbers ground me). Yesterday I had treatment #7. I have 26 more treatments on this machine. Then, I'm being moved to another machine for 7 additional treatments (where they'll focus the radiation more directly,...for now the radiation is for the entire breast area).

I do wish they'd use real numbers when explaining these things to patients. Makes people like me who are math-oriented darn right confused!

Since I was counting from 1 all the way up, that's the only way I found the "hiccup" in the way they tell us how many "weeks" of treatment. My, my if they only used real numbers and math it would have saved me a little fright.

So now I keep my accurate little count, just a little written number circled in green, right on my daily schedules for all the other myriad of appointments I collect along the way.

I went in for radiation this morning, (and Wednesdays they also take their weekly XRays). Usually it doesn't add that much time at all, but they were having problems with the machine (again), the remote wasn't working, and my arms were going numb hanging out over my head for too long.

Wednesdays I also see my onco. But he was running 45 minutes late. It's my own fault, I should have planned, and taken some Tylenol or something for my CP in advance, but by this time, I was getting on the cranky side....

I was extremely fortunate in that one of his nurses (not "mine" but another one) said I wasn't looking too comfortable (....................really?!) ....and would I like to reschedule my onco appointment for tomorrow after radiation.

Yes. Yes please!

Drove home and first thing I did was crack into that Tylenol bottle and grab a nice big bottle of water! Now? Now....we wait!
