Hi all,
Am new to this section of Healing Well, but a fairly frequent visitor to the Prostate Cancer one (for my husband).
I had a mammogram last week, and I got a recall for today. Have just returned not so long ago from a very full day.
Apparently my right breast shows an area of architectural distortion, and the team was keen to follow up. I am not sure how many Aussies there are here, but the Breast Screen clinics here are wonderful. When you get a recall, they have the whole team standing by.
First I had a repeat mammogram, which confirmed the "architectural distortion", then this was followed up with a general ultra sound. After the team had a good look at it, they did a stereotactic biopsy. The team had another good look, and the main doctor said he would like to do a core biopsy.
They used what they called a biopsy gun, and took 6 samples (after some local anesthetic). All this took about 6 hours from start to finish. Now I am at home again, and have to wait for the Pathologist report, which will take a couple of days.
Has anyone else here had this type of breast abnormality? If so, what were your findings? My googling has been a bit scary, so would like to hear from real women, not statistics.
Thanks in anticipation.
