Hello Ladies,

I'm sorry I've been gone for so long, chemo brain and just chemo. 

The good news is i'm done with my 4 A/C.  NO real problems, Muga test started at 70 and when I finished the 4 a/c it was 61.

Tomorrow is my second Taxol with herceptin, first one was fine.

I'm doing well and miss all you.  I promise to stay around this time.

I have been working through all this, for the most part, thank God.

Hope all of you are fine.  Going to start reading so I can see how everyone is.

We are so glad to see you! And especially glad you are coping well! You are well over the hump and can see a light at the end of the tunnel....

I'm glad you are checking in. Someone was looking for you not long ago and wondering how you were doing. It is hard to keep up with everything while you are in treatment, but we are here to help you through anything or answer questions. How is Snuffles? Hugs MK

Hi,

Treatment number 2 done, wahoooooooooooo just 10 more to go and they will fly by,  so far no problems at all, just not sleeping. 

Snuffles is the bomb.  He is my baby. 

Hope all you laides are doing fine.

One word....ambien! yeah

Chemo "interferes with the sleep center of the brain" I was told. Ambien was the best part of chemo for me. 5mg was all I need to get a great night sleep and wake up refreshed. It can override the sleeplessness symptoms that come with chemo and steroids...

Don't hesitate to ask for it!

Hi Randi - great to hear you are doing well. I may be in the same situation as you, just much farther behind. I was node negative, but had an aggressive cancer that is ER neg, even though I found the lump when I was pregnant. I just met with the onco today, and she said that herceptin might be an option for me. Are you ER neg too? I'll also be doing the AC + T. And I have a muga test on Tues. What is that? What does it test for? I'm supposed to start chemo on the 19th, and then get a port after. (they want to get me started soon). What is the herceptin for? Is it kinda like a tamoxifen but for ER neg?

Sorry for all the questions, but it was very empowering going into my meeting today with all of the knowledge that I've gotten from this website. When my onco stated some statistics (my risk of recurrance is 30%) that she got from a computer program, and I asked her if it was the Adjuvant program, she looked kinda startled. It was.

First hello and welcome.  I hope I can answer some of your questions.  I am er/pr+ and her2neu ++.  The Herceptin is for the Her2Neu part of the cancer, it is a drug that only targets the her2neu gene.  The results from herceptin are so encouraging, it is keeping cancer from spreading in most woman that have the her2neu dx.  As far as being er and pr++ that from what I know is my cancer feeds off the hormones.  After I take the taxol/herceptin, I will have to take, a pill such as tamoxifin or another hormone inhibitor.  I am planning on having my ovaries taking out, so that my body is making less hormones and that will help from the cancer coming back.

Now ladies if I have said anything that is not correct, please step in and correct me. 

Chantry, did you have a lumpectomy or masectomy?  What was you dx, and you path report?

I am supossed to be getting tested for the Her2neu gene... and the cancer gene as well. I only had a lumpectomy because my biopsy came back as "suspicious" and not "cancerous". So hoping for the best, I told the surgeon that I just wanted a lumpectomy. Now with my diagnosis, and probability of carring the cancer gene, I will probably be seriously looking at a masectomy (or both), and perhaps an ooph too.
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal, ER neg. Apparently they feel its a very high grade type.
