Good morning Ladies,after being off work for 6 months I went back to work and made it through the whole week,I got tired and my legs hurt.My surgeon and onc.said no lifting restrictions and i started lifting but my chest started to hurt(mastectomy)and i have to lift heavy things.So i went to my family doctor to get his opinion and he got mad because the other doctors said no restrictions,so he put me on light duty.So if your going back to work and Doc says no restrictions,you should question him about that....Tammy

Tammy, glad to hear you fared well this week, I hope it only gets easier. If it were me, I would question the other docs, to their faces, and ask why they felt there were no restrictions following mastectomy and node removal....and then consider finding a new doctor. I am not sure they advised you well.... please listen to your body and don't push it too hard.

Hi Tammy: Glad to hear that you made it thru your first week of work. But I am especially glad to hear that you listened to your body and sought another opinion. I am still furious that your onoc and surgeon told you that you had no restrictions. Maybe, as Lori said, you should question them, face to face, and also ask them if you were their wife, sister, mother, daughter, etc. would they have given the same advice?

So glad your familty doctor was diligent enough to give you those very important restrictions. And very glad you listened to you body. It knows more than any other thing or person. Take it easy and go slow.

good morning Ladies,this is my second week back at work and im feeling a little stronger,I still get real tired and my legs hurt but not as much.With this tomoxifan i get those awful hot flashes but i thank god that im getting stronger everyday...Tammy

So glad to hear that the 2nd week has gotten easier. I went back to work lasf Friday after being off for a month. My first day I was worn out. I came home and took a nap. I have tomarow off so I plan to sleep in.
Are you taking effexor for the hot flashes? I have heard that it works well. Take care.

I am on my second week back to work now too. I do 12hr shifts my legs are doing better then I thought I got a doc's prescript for compression panty hose and they work great on my legs when I come home at night my legs hurt alittle but not back. Check in to them they help alot. My insurance paid for them. I think they cost $110.00 a pair but worth the money. I have 2 pair. I also take omega3 tab and mag daily. That seems to help alot too. I get hot flashes too occasionally I am on effexor and arimidix it helps alot but still seem to get them anyway but not too bad. So good luck back to work I know how hard it is, but it has done wonders for my spirits to be back to normal and around all my co workers they are wonderful support for me.....skeeter1

I remember how hard it was going back to work.  You will get stronger every day.  Just take it slowly.  Don't overdo it.  Things will start to feel like they are getting back to 'normal' now.  Good luck!

At work when i do to much I get sharp pains where i had the mastectomy,is this normal.Its been 7 weeks for right mastectomy and7 months for left side...Tammy
