Staph infection in left breast which has been diagnosed as cancer

On January 5, 2017 I had several biopsies from the same site on my left breast. By that night that breast was black, very painful and swollen about four times bigger than the other one. When I went to !y primary care doctor on the 9th he was so upset and said I had a severe staph infection and I did have cancer. He gave me three shots and two oral meds. I was allergic to one and am still taking taking one. My breast is still black, swollen and painful and I have no energy. I am scared.

Hello Grandma & welcome to Healing Well. Wow, what a mess of things. I do hope the infection is getting under control. Is this bruising from the biopsy? What does your dr say about this? Is your dr in the process of setting you up with specialist?

I am sure you are terrified getting the news of cancer. That is a diagnosis that no one ever wants to get or hear. If you are into reading, I urge you to look at a member named Exqualls posts here in this forum. She has been writing her journey here in hopes it will help someone else.

I am most concerned about the staph infection which is from the biopsy and it is so bad that my dr said I could die from it. I flew home early this morning and am waiting for a call from my dr. I do have an appt with the on oncologist tomorrow morning. Thank you for your quick response.

The staff infection would scare me more than the cancer diagnosis, as well. So sorry you are going through it. Hopefully, medicine will get that under control and then you can focus on you journey to beat cancer.

Grandma, did your dr culture the infection to see what strain of staph is going on? There are so many different strains & antibiotics can fix it quicker knowing what bacteria is there.
