Triple negative breast cancer metastasis to lungs stage 4

Hi Guys,

I am posting on here for my friend and looking for any thoughts/treatment/etc. My close friend was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in summer 2019 at the time the cancer was in the right breast and the lymph nodes. She completed chemotherapy in the fall of 2019 and then had a lumpectomy. The scan in January after the surgery was clear. She then started radiation and completed radiation a month ago. Upon completing radiation another lump was discovered, she had a full Mastectomy a few weeks ago. The scan taken after the mastectomy showed the cancer was now present in her lungs and was stage 4. We are located in Canada (Toronto), her doctor has suggested chemotherapy again but he is worried she is resistant due to the tumors coming back. She is currently awaiting the tests on the tumor to see if she has a certain gene to be able to try immunotherapy as there has been success with this treatment. I apologize if my jargon isn't correct, but any thoughts/suggestions/ comments/treatment experiences/ positive stories on similar situation would be amazing.

KV, so sorry to read about your friend. Unfortunately, this forum has very little activity this is why you haven't received any responses. Have you spoken to her lately to see what progress has been made with getting treatment?

I have read here at HW, since Canada has universal healthcare the care depends on what is offered, including medications. I don't know if your friend has private insurance or not, I know it's expensive there.

You may want to do some online searching at reputable medical websites for immunotherapy.
