Breast bruise and lump post mammogram

Hello, I had a routine screening mammogram (age 70 yrs) done on 9/2/20. I just recently switched pcp's and had the mammogram done at their facility. I had not established a gyn there yet. about 3 weeks later I noticed I had a good sized bruise on my right breast (underneath which is probably why I didnt notice it for so long) When I felt it I could feel a good sized lump. I didnt freak out because I remembered I just had the mammo and surely it would have picked up something the size I was feeling. Called the gyn I have seen for almost 40 yrs. I saw the NP there in 2 days. She recommended an ultrasound. I was scheduled with a date 2 weeks away. Is it appropriate to wait that long?. I realize this isnt an emergency but it is also not routine. I took the date but called my pcp and asked if they could get me a date sooner at their facility. So my questions are 1) Am I right to be concerned they are making me wait 2 weeks. I think 1 week would be acceptable. 2) how common is it to get a bruise and possible hematoma from the mammogram? I've had at least 2 dozen and this has never happened before. The Mammo wasnt any more painful than they normally are.

I understand what you are saying but its dangerous to assume because I had a mammogram that had to be what caused the lump. I am more concerned about the lump than I am the bruise. They dont necessarily have to be connected. Do women with breast lumps wait 2 weeks for an ultrasound. If so, then I need to be patient. If not, then I shouldnt have to wait longer. As soon as I hear from my pcp (connected to the facility that may have caused this) I will post about whether they give me a closer date. I am not aware of a tendency for me to bruise easily. I definitely have never bruised from a mammogram before and they always hurt. But like I said, not too concerned about the bruise.

Unfortunately, it is normal to wait that long for an ultrasound. Susie is correct about COVID effecting testing times and limits. I called in June to schedule my mammogram, I was able to get an appointment in October. I waited longer than two weeks for an appointment for a biopsy after a mammogram last year.
