Well, it's done! and I love it. Was it ever a long day, though. I learned more about
hair coloring than I ever dreamed existed. If anyone saw Melissa Ethridge on TV this last fall with her new blond "do", well, that's mine. My hair is white, white, short with most of the curl still in. It is relatively soft and quite shocking. I did not realize that ends of the hair take longer to bleach out than the roots and that all the chemicals (i.e. medications) people put in their bodies make this bleaching up to white even more difficult. Trust me, after 6 1/2 hours this is a job only for the best colorist professional. My daughter was with me the whole way. I believe she thought I would freak out with the end result and start crying.
Finally, at least on the outside, the last vestages of cancer have left my body. That grey hair that so marked me -- only to myself mentally (others loved it) -- is gone. I do not know how long I will keep this hair -- it was expensive to do and will be expensive to keep, but I don't care. I feel so good that I can't wait for the remainder of my highly critical family to see it.
