My first lumpectomy and node biopsy a dozen years ago left me with axillary cording. I got the cords crushed, which they don't do now, but it worked. So after my second lumpectomy and another node biopsy a couple of years ago I got cording again, this time all the way down my arm and down my side. It got mostly better after a year, but it's causing pain and stiffness again. The modern treatment of just stretching doesn't really help much.
