Chemo information

Hi everyone, and thanks for the site. I hope someone can help my mom.

She has been diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer that has mestasized to her chest, kidneys, liver, and brain. They have completed the whole brain radiation, and she has had 1 round of taxotere chemo, but had a reaction to the anti-seizure med, dilantin, and terrible mood swings and rashes with dexamethosone. 

According to everything I have read, taxotere needs a steroid to help guide it to the areas it needs to go, and I was wondering if anyone else has had the chemo treatment, and which steroid was used.

I am so sorry your mom is having to go through chemo but she is very lucky to have such a daughter to care for her as you do.

I will have my second Taxotere treatment this Wednesday, and I have to take Dexamethason 4 mg. two tablets twice a day the day before, the day of, and the day after each Taxotere treatment. I have read on other forums that many women have difficulties with Taxotere including severe bone and muscle pain. My oncologist had to prescribe Morphine for me last week because of a pain reaction but I am determined to fight my cancer as aggressively, if not more aggressively, than it is fighting me.
