I dont know where to begin.  My mother had breast cancer 13 years ago and things were fine until this Dec.  She kept saying her back was bothering her.  So we went and got all the test run and sure enough the cancer has come back.  Her CA 15-3's were at their highest at 1867 on 2-14.  She had been going for her treatments 3 weeks on and one week off.  They put her on a new schedule one week on 3 weeks off and her her markers went from 550 back up to 1670!  We go tomorrow to find out the scan results and to see what's going on.  This is a roller coaster that we all want to get off of.  I think I'm just looking for encouraging words.  And prayers would surely be appreciated.

You certainly have my prayers for your mother and for you and your family.  A roller coaster ride is an absolute perfect description of what we go through.  Please stay encouraged and your are a good daughter for supporting her.  Stay with us and keep us posted.

Thank you so much.  It's the not knowing that get's ya I believe.  If there is anyone out there who's markers were really high could ya let me know?  Her's are so crazy that's the part I dont truly understand.  I just called to Dr and her scans from 6-7 aren't dictated yet but they are sweet people and know me well, so they are going to listen to the dictation then call me back with the chest scan and hip scan.  Tomorrow is the day we will talk to the Dr. I will fill you all in.  Thanks again for just being here it's nice just to be able to talk about it with someone.

Hi Christa! A big hug to you and your mom. She is very lucky to have you.

Sometimes finding the right dosage and regiment for chemo can be a real guessing game. When I was rediagnosed, I was on weekly chemo. Then my onco decided that my body needed a rest and put me on a regiment of 1x every 3 wks. Like your mom, my counts went sky high. I was placed back on the original every week treatment and my counts remained low. So, hang in there. Your mom's onco may need to try another type of chemo. What is she taking right now?

Please let us know the results of her scan.

BTW..how old is your mom? Also, where does she live? Maybe we have a member (s) that are close to you.

First off I'd like to thank you for just talking to me.  I have searched and searched for a place like this that I can just "vent" to someone.  I truly appreciate your kindness. Mom turned 69 in April and she's on Taxotere, Carbo with Avastin and Zometa for the bone.  We live in Maryland and have a wonderful onco.  He gave her the choice to fight that one faithful night because he knew it if she would make it it would be a miracle.  A miracle did indeed happen.  He can in the following morning with such surprise in his face and we asked time how can she go from so low to feelin no pain and gettin better so quickly?  He just looked at us and held his hands in the air as if We already knew that answer.  God was with her and still carries her now when she's down.  An hour ago I got off the phone with the Dr. and he said the scan showed to be (and I know I will not spell this right) interstial? I'm sure he will order another scan.  The scan on her hip has not come thru as of yet.  BTW?  How high were your markers?  I have never heard of any at all from other people fighting this and would just like to know.

Thank you for caring I keep everything inside so my own pain doesnt' show.  That's something she doesn't need right now.  It's nice to be able to let some of it out.

You might want to look into a new drug called Tykerb. It has produced exciting, amazing results in women with advanced breast cancer -- especially after Herceptin stops working. Best wishes to your mom. Lauri

Well we got the news today that her chemo isn't working anymore so they have fixed her up with a new cocktail...this one is mixed with Navelbine, Faslodex, and Avastin along with her Zometa...she will go every other week now and see how this does...She just can't get her dang breathe!  Dont know if that's from the chemo or something else...her ears stay clogged tighter then a drum and we went to a specialist today to check them out...he couldn't say alot about why this was happening so we are scheduled for a CT scan tomorrow...overall though...???...I think she was pleased with the Dr's words today...I know I am!!! Hey it aint great but it would have been alot worst! :-)
