So, here we are one year later.  The humity is low this morning.  Now doubt it will rise later on today.  We are still in the middle of repairs around here.  How are you all doing?

I was there. I was sent down as part of a disaster assessment team. I took a lot of photos. You can view them at www.nolasociety.org/photos. There is one photo where a car is sitting on top of a cyclone fence. One person told us he could look out of his window and see the fish swimming around his porch. How scary.

It was a lot of work, I'll tell ya. We all slept in shelters. Our days started at 5:40 in the morning and ended after 9 at night. We would go into headquarters and get briefed and be handed our assignments for the day. Some days we had to travel 4 hours, each way, just to get to our destinations. Dog, dog tired.

The people were some of the most friendliest. It was an experience I will never forget. Thankful I got the chance to go through it. When I got back home, I was on tv for an interview segment. I told them I was very impressed by the strength of the people. I wish you well.

And today I hear on the news of all the rain and wind causing the high tide to flood the FEMA trailers where people have temporary housing. We need rain so badly in north Texas and they are getting it by the bucket fulls in the area where Rita hit last year. Houston is also getting like 3" per hour. Gosh things are messed up in this country. Hugs MK

Oh my! I got a call requesting me to be put on standby for deployment, for the hurricaine season, but I had to say no because I have taken over the care of my elderly mother and therefore couldn't go. I know that parts of texas have been dry as a bone for a long time and just hoping for rain. Wierd how some parts can get it and others can't. Hope everything holds up okay.
