Facing some very hard facts.........

I am not the woman I used to be. Thanksgiving brought a very rude awakening.

I finally hooked my 5.1 surround sound up to my pc and spent hours rocking with the new Bob Seger release. I then noticed that the evening's Austin City Limits would feature Van Morrison. Boy, was I excited. I was in my mood for a little "Brown-Eyed Girl".

I got all settled down for a good time when this person on the tv started to sing. Who in the hell is that old man? Where did the jowls to the knees come from? This person had ear hair as long as his regular hair, if even that was his. Why did he have a WC Field's nose?

As soon as he opened his mouth, aside from noticing the false teeth, I had to sadly accept the fact that this was THE Van Morrison. I found myself becoming extremely critical of him and the band.

The drummer would certainly benefit by a trip or two to the Bosley Clinic. The steel guitar player looked like a leftover from Night of the Living Dead.

The fiddler player had to be his grandson. All of his children had to be far older than that. This is the first time that I have seen backup singers using sheet music. You have to wonder about the obvious senility. Is it CRS, CRAFT, Oldtimer's or Alzheimer's? The keyboard player is so far bent over that he either needs glasses, Lasix, or a back brace.

However, Van can still play a mean sax, eat your heart out Bill Clinton. By the time this show was over, I slowly crept into the bathroom to take an objective look at my face.

I decided that I needed two valium and a dose of geritol before bed. When did I get so old?

Oh Jo-Ann! You always make me laugh! Although after looking in the mirror, I think I may cry! Someone or something body snatched me and put some old fat lady in front of the mirror! I couldn't possibly look like that!
Oh well, at least I'm alive and slowly kicking.

Now wait just one cotton pickin' minute. I have all of you beat by ten years and you are thinking you are old???? I went to the eye dr the other day and the chair I sat in was across from a huge mirror. Talk about seeing a fat old lady in the mirror. Thank God my eyes were dialated half the time I was there and I couldn't see. Yesterday I fixed a mini version of our Thanksgiving dinner. I was sick and DH had to work on turkey day, so this was his first day off to enjoy the bird. I fixed less than half the different foods I would have normally fixed and I was so tired, Chuck did the dishes!!! Today is not only a cave day for Jo-Ann and I but an ice cave day in our part of the woods. I am going to settle back, read and eat left over turkey and pumpkin pie. LOL. Bet none of you can say you are still eating turkey leftovers--unless you froze some. Thanksgiving prayers for our old bodies that are still able to move around even if we don't look like we used to. When I look in the mirror, I don't see my mother, I see my grandmothers and that is no joke it is the truth. Hugs to all, MK

Whoa Nelly,  I, too, am getting old.  The other day I took a good long look at Sly Stallone (Ilove that man) and thought that he is showing his age (which is 60, two years older than me) and he is playing Rocky again!!!!  When did I get so old?  I do not dare look too closely.

I watched the miracle on ice but never the miracle in the ice........ as my favorite saying goes......I thought I would read about Chuckie doing dishes when pigs fly. Wow I will be talking to myself all day over this one. Please tell me he had an apron on. That picture is one I will carry with me for a while. This time of year one needs something to smile about.
