Baby it's cold outside!!!!

Well, it has been snowing, blowing, raining, sleeting, icing, and snowing, and snowing and snowing!!!  Our county is under a Level 2 advisory.  Meaning, drive only if you have too.  The authorities suggest you STAY HOME.  If we go to a level 3 tonight, we HAVE to stay off the roads.  All the schools were closed, businesses have closed, churchs, libraries, even The Ohio State University and all other small colleges or universities have closed too.  It has to get pretty bad out for that too happen.  My daughter was in Columbus and now cannot get home and her poor pooch is ill, so grandma Candy is taking care of her and making sure she gets her meds. Getting her to go outside is a real trip.  She is a 45 pound mutt that is so dainty about getting her paws wet.  So......I have to pick her up and practically throw her outside.  She looks at me like I'm crazy.  My DGD turned "7" today and was glad to be off school and home with Mom and little sister and eventually Daddy.  My DH went to work (he was suppose to fly to Chicago) and see if there was anyway he could resurrect a cancelled flight. Well, he couldn't and I am overjoyed that he cannot sprout wings and fly on his own!!!  He told everyone to go home from work.  Some did and some didn't.  He didn't until the freezing rain had been falling for about an hour.  He said getting home was a piece of cake!! (Of course the roads were pretty empty of traffic. But.....they did leave all the insane people on the streets. Yikes!!!)

Ok, I am now looking seriously into this...... Who does not have some form of disaster ever? I mean starting with all the rain in the NW, then moving on,  mud slides, earthquakes, floods, draughts, tornados and hurricanes. Seems to me one way or another we are all in some sort of soup. Who among us can stand up and say we do not get any of this including sleet and snow? Anyone that can, please send local paper....real estate section. Love and hugs to all, and please take care. Chapter Two:

Well, we are at a level three this morning. The winds are at 35 miles per hour and wind chills are at -4 or so.  My DH has already been outside trying to clear a path in the driveway to get his car out to go to work.  Level Three may prohibit that.  We are only 1/2 mile from the county line, so he may try to sneek into a level two area.  With it being Valentines Day it would be nice to have him home today, oops scratch that he just left.  Ron is definitly a workaholic.  I used to try to be like him, but, alas, I never made it.  Any excuse to not go to work was always my motto.  Now, though, I get to play my days away.

I feel for you gals with all the snow. DD said they got about 13 inches in Noblesville, IN. Her DH spent a day and a half at home. We've had very little snow this winter, but did we get cold early this month. I think the AVERAGE temperature for the first 10 or 12 days was -2. Yes, that is 2 below zero! That's before figuring in the windchill. But, hang in there friends. March is only 2 weeks away. The end of winter is in sight -- honest. My aunt in central Iowa said the robins have arrived there. We welcomed in the morning at 13!!!! It is climbing fast, tho, up to 15.6 in a matter of minutes. The dogs went out and then came back ate a little food and hit their beds. DH thinks it is supposed to get up to 60 today??? Oh well, we know spring is coming. MK

Work got about a foot and a half more than home do with 30 inches.  I've still got cardinals at my feeder at my office window.  They sure are pretty against the blanket of white!  That white is hard on the car on those mountains, though.

 

Miss-heard the recording for Matthew's school yesterday and took him to an empty school parking lot!!  I quickly dropped him back at home (DH was still in bed, the creep) and hightailed it to work.  Turned out he had a delay, not a cancellation so he missed yesterday.  Can't seem to get things right lately!!!

 

Still cold and snow is in the forecast for the next three days.  King of the Ice fishing contest is this weekend.  Maybe this year DH will be crowned.  This is the one.  I can feel it!  Life goes on but that snow day was the tops.

Well, it's still snowing here. They were saying we're having the coldest February on record.

about the robins...on the news yesterday they said that the robins that stick around in central Ohio all winter are usually a hardy lot, but they're dying now because all of their food supply is frozen. They don't eat birdseed (so the normal bird feeder won't help), but they do eat suet. Their normal diet is insects (hah! they're long gone or buried) and berries, which are frozen. Poor things!

I worked from home two days last week when Delaware county was at level 2 and then 3...I would have gotten a lot more done if my DH weren't also home, and interrupting me all the time!! He works for Dublin schools (two suburbs to the west of us), so he was home when they closed. Some of the school districts have used more than their planned five "calamity days." Westerville schools will have to forgo a day off on Memorial Day to make up the sixth day they used last week. I'm glad my kids are in college, and I don't have to mess with babysitters and fouled-up Memorial Day plans.

I'm getting cabin fever, though, so my sister and I are going to venture out today to explore a knitting store in Columbus I heard about. The roads have been cleared for the most part, so I don't expect any problems....
