sclerosing lobular hyperplasia"?

My path report said "adenosis with stromal sclerosis". This was taken during a lumpectomy, a lump from upper outer quadrant of left breast. When I search stromal sclerosis, this is what comes up. She (the breast surgeon) said it was in my lobules and that even though it was benign, I have a higher risk of BC because of the sclerosis.

When I saw your post yesterday I didn't answer you because I hadn't a clue what you were asking about. I suspect others may have felt the same way. Sclerosis is hardening of tissue, I think. It may be another way of explaining calcifications? That is purely a wild guess. At any rate, it seems to me that you need to be very punctual about having your yearly mammogram and exam. Don't let it slip for 6 months or a year. Now I will google and see what I can learn about sclerosing lobular hyperplasia. Gee try to say that over and over a few times.

I checked and came back, it is rare BUT BENIGN, so no wonder I had no idea of what it was. I think the patholgist really knows his stuff there. So take care and follow your doctor's advice. Be happy you have a benign condition now!

Just to let you know. I also have something like this in one of my breasts. Got very scared last year on my monthly breast exam, had 2 mammo's, then an ultrasound on it, and even visited a surgeon, but it ended up being somehow one of the muscles in my breast is hardening. The surgeon didn't seem too worried about it since 'it moves with the breast'. I guess cancer doesn't move when the breast is manipulated? BUT I am VERY lumpy and have very dense breasts as well, so I'm watched pretty close as well. Good Luck and Congrats that it's benign!
