Don't know what path you've chosen, but treating cancer, if you ask me, is a crap shoot, anyway. My best friend was diagnosed about a year after I was. We had very similar treatments. Her prognosis was better than mine, all things considered. Next week will be four years since we lost her.

A friend of ours was diagnosed with colon cancer a few years ago. He underwent all the surgery and chemo, but it was a difficult battle, physically and emotionally for him. He lost his home because of the medical bills. He lost his wife, who went searching for greener pastures...a woman he thought was his soulmate. To tell the truth, I think he'd have preferred the cancer had killed him, because he has not heart for living anymore.

We all just do what we think is best for us. Some of us get lucky. Some of us don't. Chemo, you know, isn't a cure for cancer. The hope is that chemo will buy five extra years of health. For me, 6 months for 5 more years meant seeing my daughters graduate high school. A small price to pay. I watched the birth of my first grandbaby a couple of years after that. Last month, I got to see my oldest graduate college. What a bonus! Those six months I gave up have been worth the price over and again.

My brother just got married this last month. Also a cancer survivor. Double bonus!

Anyway, just want you to know that, whatever path you choose, it is the best one for you because you chose it. Don't let other people's paths confuse you.

This board is a give and take kind of place. Sometimes we give, and sometimes we take. And sometimes we just have fun!!!

You two are so nice and everyone I've seen here has been so nice as well - thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I guess I'm a bit surprised - just as I was surprised when after going to the lawyer's office to make out our will, the lawyer, who I've only met once before, actually came from around his desk and hugged me.  Talk about bursting into tears...

I'm here, present.  Cancer free for over five years now.   No treatment of any kind although at first they wanted to remove my breast after they took out the cancerous lump.  I've had PET/CT scans and each came back clearer and clearer, then poof, gone.

Yes, the blog got to be too popular and took up all my time and energy so I gave it up.  The fibromyalgia continues to be a problem, or many problems but the latest thing with me is having a yeast problem that has lasted almost a year, mostly affecting my eyes and nose areas.  I'm going with treating it wholistically (sp?), using supplements and diet changes since the doctors don't seem to acknowlege the problem even exists.
