I went to my infectious disease doctor today and she has decided to hold my blood cultures for one month and if nothing grows she will clear me for chemo. I started running a temp again on Thursday after not having one for a week. Friday and Saturday it was 101.8 and they just don't like it. She said it is possible it is coming from the cancer. A new one to me. Anyone else ever hear that?? Everyone have a safe holiday and hope you are all surround by many friends and family. Hugs and prayers, Cyndy

Oh Cyndy, it just keeps on giving, this marvelous disease. Are you on strong antibiotics? Remember I had IV antibiotics for almost a full year. Off and on but mostly on from Aug 99 to March 2000. They were the big guns, so the infectious disease dr called them. I hope you get to feeling better soon. A temp of 101.8 can't let you feel like dancing a jig, I am sure. We'll have a quiet day here tomorrow. We have had rain by the bucketfuls for weeks and today I think was the first that we had no downpour, just sprinkles.

Hi, Cyndy! I had what they called "tumor fevers." For awhile before I was dx'ed and for a brief time after my surgery, I would off and on suddenly spike a fever, often in the evenings, if I recall. They hit so fast...I would know they were coming, because I would get a sudden wave of dizziness...that's what I remember most. I can't remember when it went away, but after I started chemo...which was only about 3 weeks after surgery.

They are not common with breast cancer, but it does happen. Hope that is all it is. One month to culture blood seems like a long time to have to wait for chemo, but perhaps a nice break for you? Or will hey continue your current regimen?
