Radiation treatments - how long can it zap your energy?

I had 35 radiation treatments for breast cancer 2 yrs ago.  I still don't have my old energy back.  I just can't do as much as I used to.  Has anyone else had this experience?  I had no energy when I was having the treatments - all I could do was get dressed and go to my treatment for the day.  Also, I have lost 30 lbs. and the area where my scar is from the lumpectomy has become indented.  I recently saw my surgeon and she said it was because of the weight loss  To be safe I had an ultra sound which showed everything normal.  The breast where I had the cancer shrunk from the radiation and now with the weight loss I am so uneven! I wonder if this has happened to others.  Would appreciate a reply if you have had this type of experience.  Thanks.

Aurora, I think the most typical thing about this disease and the side effects of the treatment are the very different nature of the side effects for us all. It makes it hard to predict what will happen when the side effects vary so widely.

I might suggest seeing your primary care doctor to start a good workup, including blood tests. it could be that you are anemic or perhaps dealing with another autoimmune disorder. It would be hard to say whether radiation contributed to the current problem, but certainly should be brought to medical attention.

Hi Aurora, I have the same problem -- not the weight loss -- but uneven sized breats. I just live with it, but wonder if I should not get something small to fill in. I think it was 18 months before I felt "well" again. I agree with Lori. See you doctor to make sure something else is not going on. Good luck, Lauri

Radiation didn't zap my energy like it has you and others.  I sailed through it with flying colors, so feel very lucky.  I wish I could say I've lost 30 lbs!  LOL  I need to lose.  I had a mast, so don't have any advise on the uneven breasts, just that you should consult with your docs.  I know there are partial prosthesis made for that, so check with someplace near you that has a certified prosthesis fitter.  I'm sure they can help you.
