I nursed two of my four children and now I have lumpy breasts.  I just turned 40 and  don't like the idea of having my boobs squashed in a mammogram. They are tender any way.  A friend told me about thermal imaging.  Any one try it and is it effective in finding cancer as other means?

I don't remember anyone having discussed thermal imaging. Mammograms really bother some women and others say nothing to it, so maybe you will be in that category even tho you feel tender. Who knows? Since thermal imagining is not "the thing" most doctors use I would think you would have a rough time having insurance pay for it. I'm sure it is very costly! Bite the bullet and get that mammogram done, it is time!!!!!! Hugs MK

Mammography with ulta sound is the gold standard for testing. It's just a tiny bit of discomfort, not even close to pain. Please don't let your fear of the test stop you, it could cost you your life.

I agree with Laurie....no harm in getting new tests as long as you stick with the standard too. Mammograms are uncomfortable, not painful....and the discomfort lasts just a few seconds. Less discomfort than you might feel in your back or legs after a day of gardening...which leaves me sore for a couple days.
