Hello all, newbie here. Been trying to pin-point the cause of my excessive fatigue and see what can be done about it. To start, I'm a generally healthy, non-smoking and non-drinking 26 year old woman. Prior health issues included IBS (anxiety induced I think) as a teenager, mild psoriasis (age16-now), TMJ (age 12-now) and mononucleosis at age 23. I have day to day anxiety under control but sometimes I get hit with strong anxiety, so .5mg alprazolam as needed if I'm panicky.
The past 7 years I have had unexplained, unsolved chronic fatigue accompanied by sleepiness and excessive sleeping (night-time and naps) this chronic fatigue has kept me from working full time. I go to school part time but am not working now. On a general night, I sleep roughly 9-10 hours, but if any less i am EXHAUSTED. On top of that, I generally nap 2-4 hours sometime in the afternoons. If I am out and about doing things, I don't NEED to sleep, I do get tired, but I can still function, drive, run errands, etc. without issues. But if I am home or at a friends house, and I can feel it creeping on, the couch is my best friend, and there is no controlling it.
I tend to feel very sleepy after eating. I eat a healthy variety but I do avoid carbs sometimes (yellow rice = I'm zonked out). I eat good portion sizes, protein, have breakfast, drink water, and have a healthy BMI. I try to work out 2-3 days a week but its literally only for 10 minutes on my at home elliptical, I stop because I'm winded. I do weights at home 1-2 days a week but not heavy lifting. Something else I've noticed is that my legs are constantly VERY COLD and sometimes sore.
For these past few years I have tried a lot of different prescribed anti-depressants to try to stop the excessive sleepiness and fatigue, including prozac, celexa, lexapro, cymbalta (worked pretty good and helped with body pains but i started getting tingly sensations in hands, and getting off of it was horrible), pristiq, effexor, and as of this week, trying zoloft. But I am not sad or depressed, just constantly tired. I take xanax if I have an anxiety attack, and I took Vyvanse a couple days last semester to help with focusing on schoolwork.. that just made me shaky.
The only thing on my last bloodwork that came back abnormal was that my CRP levels were REALLY high (10x higher than high, but I assume that is from having an autoimmune disease) doctor didn't bother doing any other tests or treatments. No anemia, but my testosterone level was really low, even for a woman.
I feel that I'm at a loss. I need to go for my yearly checkup (time for a new doc too) but I don't know what to tell them or ask of them. Are there any blood tests or any tests any of you would recommend looking for? Any help is appreciated. <3
