Hello All,

For those of you in the Fibro forum, you may have seen my screenname in there as well...I just decided to float on ito the CFS forum as I also suffer from some pretty unbearable fatigue. I have not tried a whole lot of meds for fatigue other than the usual vitamins and Cymbalta....so I am curious as to what you guys have tried thus far. I am currently looking into the latest study involving Milnacipran, and thanks to Jeannie, I plan on adding malic acid onto my list.  tongue   I don't know about you guys but the fatigue is more unbearable than the FMS pain!! I am dying to try new things so fill me in!

Hi Martha and welcome to the CFS forum. As I'm sure you know, fatigue is one of the most difficult things to treat. I honestly don't know of anything that really takes care of the fatigue. I know there have been some people who have tried Provigil with varying results - I don't have any experience with it though. There are some other people here who have Adrenal fatigue and are taking supplements - hopefully they will see your post and tell you what they take. I hope the malic acid works well for you - I'd be interested to know how it works. Take care and let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the insight. My doctor tried to prescribe Provigil but my insurance company would not cover it--go figure!

Hi!

I'm learning that low thyroid function can cause CFS. You should get you thyroid checked and go from there. That's what I had to do.

Doctors kept testing my thyroid, because I had all of the symptoms...all of the tests were normal…so they feed me anti-d’s. I had to have a more sophisticated test that proved that on the cellular level my thyroid hormone was low...which is automatic hypothyroidism no matter what the TSH test said. MD's know about this, but do not have…or do these type of tests…some test can take the whole day. It’s too time consuming for doctors.

You need to purchase a better test for ZRT.com. It’s a home test. It was the best thing that I've ever did for myself...it proved everything.

Hey Tru,

Thanks for your input. I tried to find the test you are talking about but was unsuccessful, can you go onto the ZRT.com site and post the link here on the foru, for the product in which you are talking about? I'd appreciate it. I have a whole lot of tests that I need to get done, but if I can do it at home, that would be great!

PS, what is the IsoCort for?

I'm sorry that I didn't notice your response.

IsoCort is an adrenal cortex used to boost adrenal funtion. Low thyroid and adrenal imbalance usually go together. When one or the other is not functioning right the other is out of balance too.

I had the saliva and blood spot combo tests done...and you do it at home and mail it back to ZRT.

You may not need a lot of test after this. The only other test I did was a toxin and mineral test.


A quote from one of my books:

"The adrenal hormones and thyroid hormones are hooked together like a seesaw--often when one is up, the other is down and vice versa. If your thyroid is low, your adrenal levels might me high as a compensation for the low thyroid. Improving your thyroid level will allow your adrenals to relax a bit , thereby stressing you out less."

My tests shows that I have low thyroid and high adrenal levels(DHEAS) just like the quote states.
