I'm stopping hydrocortisone

I've been using Armour Thyroid and hydrocortisone for 16 days now...and on day ten I noticed that the meds wasn't working as well anymore. Well, I just finished reading my 10th book on thyroid disoders and found out that too much cortisone prevents T4 T3 conversion. This has to be what was happening to me by day ten...and I'm not trying to prevent conversion I'm trying to increase. So, today, day 16 is my last day of hydrocortisone. Everything was working so well before day 10...which was when I started to notice no new changes. Everything seemed to come to a hault at day ten.

Also, I don't need hydrocortisone, because my morning cortisol levels are high enough...and my doc told me the same thing...but I insisted that I needed it. Oh well...feels like I'm starting over...well at least from day 10. I've learned my lesson.

Also, I'm using progesterone cream which also increase cortisol levels. I believe that because I am using progesterone I can not take hyrdocortisone too...that's too much cortisol. Things would have been different if I wasn't taking progesterone, but I rather take progesterone because it naturally increases cortisol...hydrocortisone does not.

Well...at least I can say that I still have energy, so pretty much all of the changes that I've experienced up until day ten still exists...no new improvements have occured since day ten. I'll see what happens without hydrocortisone....I should experience more improvements.

I hope the change in your meds helps. So many of these things seem like trial and error. It can be a really delicate balance finding the right combo and the right doses of meds. Let us know how it works and take care.

I believe that I need a larger dose of Armour Thyroid...which is expected. Everyone starts off with a small dose and it's increased until the symptoms go away.
