I think i may have cfs... i have have been trying to tell my docs about my symptoms, ive been to so far and they both just seem to ignore it or suggest im just depressed all in my head ect. I have now moved. I dont know what type of doc to see, like family prac, internist ect.
Also does anyone know of any good ones near College Station, TX

My symptoms for the past 2 years have been

fatigue
sleeping but never feeling rested.... i can just sleep and sleep and never really want to get up or feel like getting up
i seem to get throat aches alot at various times
i just seem to feel sick all the time
when i do get sick its for weeks, when it should just be for days
i have muscle pain, seemingly random places and times
i have had chest pain, had an ekg- normal, sharp stabbing pain for a few seconds, repeats every few seconds
i seem to be cold most of the time when no one else it, 70 degrees is freezing to me
sometimes my hips and knees ache
headaches very often
severe neck pain
my memory is terrible
i have trouble concentrateing
i am very sensitive to light, and sound - brings on headache
irritable bowel, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea or bloating

i have had mri which came back "normal" and also a cat scan "normal" too

I just cant function any more, i spend most of my time resting and feeling sick

im sorry i know that is a lot of symptoms

any information will be greatly appreciated

Hi InLove. I'm sorry to hear about how sick you have gotten and that you don't have any answers yet. Trying to get a diagnosis can be such a frustrating thing. A lot of your symptoms are consistent with cfs, but they are also present in a lot of other illnesses, which is what makes diagnosing so hard. Have your docs ever tested you for lyme disease? One thing I've learned from members of the Lyme forum is that you don't have to remember being bit by a tick or having a rash in order to get Lyme. IT's worth asking a doc about . I would think you should see an internal medicine doc or an infectious disease doc to try to help you sort things our. Let us know if you have any other questions. Take care

Hi InLove19,

It fits the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome pattern, but the first step in making a diagnosis is ruling other things out. If possible, this would be blood tests for infections and other signs, having your heart checked, visit to neurologist. And you have already been told about Lyme.

The other thing to keep in mind is most doctors are not up to date on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or they don't believe it exists. So if you can find a doctor who understands this, that would be great. Searching Google for using "good doctor list" will give you some possibilities.

But even with a CFS doctor, you should still have other things ruled out.

I have had many blood tests done and they all came back normal
i dont know what all they checked for all the normal things and i dont know what else
i also remeber they did one where they took blood waited 15 min took it again waited 15 more min and took it again
i have also had an ultrasound of my organs and the doc said they looked so good they looked like the text book

As of right now i can not afford to go to the doctor and do not have medical insurance and can not get it untill i marry

The internist i went to before said that i "should be perfectly healthy" and thought i was depressed
thought it must have been over a boy or some such nonsense and my parents where only to happy to jump on that band wagon
i have been depressed before so i know that i am not, in fact i have never been happier before, except for being ill almost all the time

i dont know if it is important but i do drink a lot of diet coke, it was mostly all i drank
but i have stopped completely and am trying not to eat so many simple carbs
i crave them and have such a terrible sweet tooth

A lot of doctors these days go by the numbers. They run the tests and if it looks normal, then they say you must be depressed. They don't entertain the idea that something real is there that tests don't see. And it was not that long ago that people with MS were being told they are depressed, but doctors never seem to learn from this.

But you say you have been depressed before. Does this feel like depression to you? For example, with depression, exercise tends to invigorate. But with many (not all) CFS sufferers, it makes them worse for days.

One thing I just noticed is your note about chronic neck pain caused by whiplash. I used to know someone whose wife had many CFS symptoms and her problems turned out to stem from neck problems. She ended up getting better with help for her neck. Neck problems can cause headaches, dizziness, fatigue -- all sorts of things.

Anyway, I'm not saying it is your neck for certain. Just that this is another thing to take care of and rule out. And I wish I could offer more to go on. I know how confusing and scary this can be.

How does one find a good doctor??? ARE there specialists in CFIDS?? If so, does anyone know of any in Michigan or even Chicago?

I don't know if links are allowed here, but there is a good doctor list for CFS. Search google using "good doctor list" and you will see it.

Andrew, links are allowed as long as they aren't links to sites trying to sell something or links that sell something you would personally benefit from. I think the link you are talking about would be fine. You brought up a very good point in your previous post and doctors who assume that if all labs are normal then a person must be depressed. I got very frustrated when this happened to me and it was to the point where I was almost convinced I was depressed. I just kept telling the docs the only reason I felt down at all was because I had no energy to do the activities I loved and if I had energy back I wouldn't feel down.

Thanks, Andrew ... if you could post the link that would be AWESOME but I'll go to google right now. My internal medicine doctor said I have it but won't put it on paper, my rheumy diagnosed with TWICE with it but says LTD papers need to come from my internist. I'm getting SUCH a run around.

i just saw this in another thread:
Be careful at the FFC. They overdosed me on throid meds. My new dr told me I could have had a stroke or heart attack. See my response to your other thread. I had a real bad experience with that clinic. So have many other people on a difference CFS forum I post at.
