i have bad pains from the bottom of my right rib through to my back and chest

i have been hurting really bad in my right upper chest, its there from the time i getup in the  mornings  and never stops anymore, gets worse when i try to left or do any work, its gotten to where its like im not getting the full amount of air i need..i tire real easy, i went to the docs and did the walking and running test he said my heart is strong, its strange going on now for 2 years, i pray its not cancer, i was told if that was the case i would have been losen alot of weight by now, i wish someone could help me, ..i do have high blood pressure and depression, i take atenanol 50 mg once a day for the high blood, and alperasalam {zanax } for the depression, i also take combovent for breating problems..copd i think it is, can this be why i hurt from the uppr right chest to my back and lower right ribs? i do smoke and  i no thats bad..dont help any matter..can anyone please help me..thanks

You may have costochondritis, an inflammation of the intercostal muscles, tendons and ligament of the ribcage. If you type in the word costochondritis into the Google Custom Search box at the top of this page you will get lots of info from members and site stuff about this. Then, armed with this new info, you can approach your doctor. Good luck with this.

I agree with Jeannie, but I'd just like to add that I also have this type of pain, and for me, a visit w/ my massage therapist (neuromuscular) helps immensely. She can usually locate a trigger point and release it. She has asked me if I have shortness of breath, because the trigger points and tight muscles/ligaments in this area around the ribcage and diaphragm can cause that, too. I can usually figure out what it is I've been doing - often times repetitive motions with my arms raised or constricted that sets up the pain reaction. Sometimes it's as simple as sitting at the computer too long and using the mouse! (I'm right handed).
Have you had a chest Xray to rule out problems associated w/ the COPD? Hope you get some help from your doctors and start feeling better!

There was a period of time where my back and rib cage swelled up - I also has migrating pain and swelling that was one place one day and another the next day. It ended up being lyme and now with treatment has completely gone.

should get your lung function test done again as u might need inhalers copd usually needs steriod treatment via inhalers .high blood pressure can also cause chest pain although most docs dont actually realise that.u might want to have your gallbladder checked also because it can also cause pain in the back and chest especially after meals.
