Hi Angel & welcome. I am sorry to say this forum is not very active. I am usually in the Fibromyalgia forum & come here occasionally to check & see if anyone has a question. I have had CFS for a few years, dx'd in 2006 but had it for several years prior. It is a very hard illness to deal with.
Having both EBV & CFS must be hard on you & having two small children is quite the added burden, but only a burden with the illnesses. My children are all grown up but my daughter has moved in with me to share the bills & she has two kids, 13 & 9. I am, once again, getting used to living with children & I have found I really like it. But I don't have to care for them. Misty, my daughter, has Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (overlapping of Lupus, Scleraderma, Polymyositus & Rhuematoid Arthritis) We help each other out.
I haven't tried the prescription you asked about nor have I heard of it, is it something new? I would look it up on the internet maybe at WebMD to see what it is used for. That may help you to feel comfortable with it. I would talk to you pharmacist too, he will have alot of info on it. I find getting sleep is so important in dealing with my CFS, the tireder I am the worse I feel so if you can find something to help you sleep that would help alot. It's like a no sleep equals flu like symptoms & exhaustion & aches & pains, etc. I have focused on trying to find things to help me do just that. To sleep, I take Tizanadine, a muscle relaxer, it helps me to go to sleep by relaxing my muscles & it makes me drowsy. I keeps the pain at bay so I can stay asleep. I also, take Trazadone & it keeps me sleeping once I get to sleep. I still wake up during the night some & sometimes I have a hard time going back to sleep but for the most part this has worked for me. With two small children this might not be an option for you until they are older. Have you tried Melatonin? I used it for years prior to the new meds I take & it helped me alot. I suggest using the sublingual (dissolves under the tongue) because it is faster but the type you swollow worked well too. Sleepy time tea can help as well & if you can relax in a bath before going to bed that also can help. De-stress, de-stress, de-stress!!!!! I know it is hard & seems impossible but it will help you alot. Stress will keep you awake running the days events or things I have to do or "I have to get to sleep!!" around in your head over & over.
Use your energy wisely, the most important is taking care of the kids so don't overdue with housework. It will still be there tomorrow. I have learned to live with a little more mess & clutter & to be content & happy about it. LOL
Have you had you vitamin D checked to see if it is low? It has been found to be an epidemic & I've noticed if you have any other illnesses it seems to go right along with them. I take 3000 i.u.'s of vitamin D3, D3 because it is absorbed into the body faster. Also, I take B12 sublingual & I have found my energy level have gone up & I have more good days. Nothing is a cure but each can help to raise the levels. I am looking into CoQ10 & NADH, both can help to boost energy so I will let you know what I find out.
I would suggest you try the Fibromyalgia forum here instead of this one. I wish this one was more active but it just isn't. The Fibro forum is very active & some of the people there have CFS as well. CFS & Fibro have alot of the same symptoms so we are all looking for the same answers. There are many people there who don't have Fibro but are looking for a good support group. The people are really wonderful & will make you feel right at home. I hope you try it, I think you will be very happy there.
Many gentle hugs, Denise
