Wow this thread caught my eye. I never was officially diagnosed with CFS. I had most the classical symptoms. I too suffered from lower abdominal pain would come and go off and on for three years. Often nausea. My appendix was never visible on imaging ultrasound or ct scan. If its not visible its assumed its not a problem. Ended up in the ER 3 times the final time my lips were blue and they "thought" I might have appendicitis but would not know unless they
opened me up. I had little pain at the time of surgery the appendix pain had disappeared. I remember them asking me if I wanted pain medication because usually appendicitis comes with severe pain. Sure enough appendicitis and a neuroendocrine tumor on my appendix. After that I got half my colon taken out and 6 inches of small intestine. My symptoms are probably 75% better. Many of my muscles are still recovering but they act more normal now. At one point you could feel all the tendons popping around in my back the physical therapist was shocked.
