Hey guys,
Im am going to try and keep this short...
I have been suffering from chronic fatigue as well as random pains and 2 pages worth of other fun symptoms since I became ill with my gallbladder in oct2014. My doctor thinks this could be fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue.
Work has become increasingly difficult. I had to take fmla Oct 2014 - Dec 2014 for my gallbladder issues but after finally having surgery in Dec 2014 I returned to work in January. I had exhausted the 12 weeks of fmla allowed.
I did not feel fully recovered though the doctors didn't see any reason but felt I should feel better with time (persistent fatigue, naseau, and back pains were my main symptoms back then, and still are now)
I'm currently being treated by a different doctor as well as seeing specialists, I feel like my symptoms could be manageable even if only my sleep quality could be improved. I'm looking at what my options are at work.
Having already missed 5 days this august, 2 thankfully as short notice pto, I contacted fmla per doctors advice and found out i wasn't eligible since it's a rolling 12 months calendar since the date I last used fmla.
I'm worried about my options, if my doctor states I'm disabled, but I've exhausted my fmla, can't they fire me and I not get my short or long term disability benefits?
If I receive short term disability benefits but in order to receive them must remain an employee how do I remain an employee while diaabled?
I'm scheduling an appointment with hr, but wanted to see if any of you have experience with this you might be willing to share.
Thanks in advance.
