C.F.S. and Hole in the heart

I've had CFS for the past 20 years. Up until recently any tests I had done all came back negative. In 2015 I was diagnosed with Neurally Mediated Hypotension and just recently, in late 2015 I was diagnosed with a large hole in the heart (PFO).

I have just had the hole closed 6 days ago. I'm writing to find out if anyone out there also has been diagnosed with a PFO and have had it closed. All the information I read regarding this procedure and what to expect from recovery is directed to migraine sufferers and stroke victims but unfortunately nothing for CFS patients.

If anyone else has had a PFO closure I just want to ask what your recovery was like and did it make any difference to your symptoms.

It's been over six months now since my closure. The procedure went smoothly. Very simple really. It only took about 1/2 hour and I was awake through it. I felt nothing, so it wasn't a problem. I had no complications (I don't really think there is any). Since the procedure my CFS symptoms have lessoned over time and I feel so much better. Now I know what 'normal' feels like. I still feel I have to monitor myself and not overdo it but generally I feel, say, 75 to 80% better than before the procedure and there is a good chance I may still improve. I was retested at my 3 month check up and my hole is completely closed. After 20 years of CFS I am still a little overwhelmed by the diagnosis and my ongoing recovery and the new lease of life it has given me.

P.S. Just out of curiosity, what doctor are you seeing and what size hole do you have?
