I'm a 41M, 6'2, 180lbs, tall and skinny. I have terrible symptoms: extreme fatigue, memory loss, vision problems, anxiety, brain fog, insomnia.
I've had high SHBG for years, always getting higher. My total testosterone started getting higher, out of range in January 2023. I saw an endocrinologist, she tested me for a bunch of other hormones (FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin) and they were all in range. She didn't really have an answer, but said it's not serious, because otherwise the other hormones would be affected.
Here are my results in August:
TESTOSTERONE TOTAL* 1477 (250-1100) H
TESTOSTERONE FREE 59.5 (46-224)
TESTOSTERONE BIOAVAIL 125 (110-575)
SHBG* 137 (10-50) H
ALBUMIN 4.6 (3.6-5.1)
And then since then, I was on an antibiotic protocol with high amounts of dapsone and methylene blue, which raised my Total T and SHBG even higher. One month since those August numbers, my SHBG rose to 195 (previously was 137) and my Total T rose to 1560 (previously was 1477). My Free Testosterone has been sluggish but still in range. Thyroid, iron, CBC, A1C all are normal.
Does anyone know what could be causing all of this? I have a probable explanation for the recent increase, being on methylene blue. But my numbers have been high and climbing for years, prior to any of those meds. Someone on a testosterone forum said that with that low of Free Testosterone, no wonder I feel super lousy, even though it's still in range. I'd love to get to the bottom of this. Thanks!
