I am just wondering how everyone here copes with CFS?  I am 28 and have never been sick my whole live and for the last 7 months have been really sick with CFS ( i think).  How does everyone cope with the possibility of never getting better?  I now have severe anxiety to add to the tiredness. I am supposed to be thinking about having babies, and instead I feel horrible everyday.  Does anyone ever get competely better?  Some things have gone away.  The dizziness and extreme weakness has, thank god!!  Any advice would be helpful!  Taking Effexor xr, but have been feeling worse physically on it, so I am switching to Wellbutrin.  My uncle had CFS for 7 months and recovered!!!

aquarias, trying to cope with chronic illness can be really hard and I'm really sorry you are having to deal with it. I know for myself, I always have the hopes of feeling better or going into remission someday. My own experience with CFS was that about 2 years after my diagnosis I went into some type of remission where I was able to live a fairly normal life, but needed more rest than most people. But about 2 1/2 years ago I got sick again and am now dealing with additional health problems.

I'm hoping your doctor can get you on the right anti depressant which will hopefully help you feel somewhat better and at least help with the anxiety. It also wouldn't hurt to find a good counselor who is experienced with helping people with chronic illness. I have someone I see when my illness really gets me down and it is helpful.

Let us know how the Wellbutrin works for you

     Thanks for your reply, I am sorry that you are dealing with these illnesses.  You are a great person to be suffering so much and still on this site trying to help others.  Maybe there will be a cure for CFS someday.  I believe Cher had CFS for 2 years and completely recovered.  Are you able to work, go out to restruants etc?  Well hopefully recovery is in our future!!

I truly hope that one day there is a cure for many of these debilitating diseases. The bad thing about CFS is that I feel like it's kind of gone under the radar in the medical community - I don't hear nearly as much about it as I did in the 1980's and 90's.

When I was in remission, I was able to whatever I wanted, I just noticed that I needed to rest a little more on some days and once in a while my body would crash and I would need to spend a day or two in bed. Fortunately I was able to have both my kids while I was in remission and I got sick again not long after my second child was born. I have some days that I can't function at all and have to spend my time on the couch or in bed. It is hard to make plans because I never know for sure how I am going to feel, but I am able to go out to eat or to a movie here and there. I do work, but it's very part time and unfortunatelyI think I am going to have to quit within the next month or two - it's just getting to be too much and I think I might be healthier if I didn't have the stress of working.

I really hope that you experience remission and that this nasty disease doesn't ever return for you. You deserve a normal life where you are able to have kids and enjoy your life. Until that happens, just know there is always support here for you.
