Hi all, I am just curious about the symtoms of chronic fatigue syndrome because i'm very curious about my boyfriends state... the situation with him is.. he never gets out of bed... he can't hold jobs... he is always tired and never has any energy what-so-ever.. I can't even get him to go for a walk around the block with me ever... it's really like he has zero energy ever. I thought that maybe it was depression and maybe it is then i thought maybe he's just lazy... but then i started to wonder what chronic fatigue syndrome is and what it does to a person..I hope that someone can clear my questions up for me any input would be apprieciated..

Well, fatigue can be a symptom of just about any medical problem.

Has he seen a physician to rule out other issue first, suchs as Lyme disease, Mono, thyroid?

I agree, Orion. Your boyfriend should have a complete medical work-up with a lot of blood work done to test for a variety of things. A lot of times CFS is diagnosed by ruling a lot of other things out. Hopefully he will agree to go to the doctor.

It took me 10-11 years to get diagnosed with CFS/CFIDS. Find a good doctor that will listen.

My diagnosis came after TONS of tests. I had blood work for just about everything you can think of, had to see a sleep specialist to rule out sleeping disorders... then found a doctor that ran a test that no one else had ran... for the Epstein Barr Virus, and came back positive... and I got my diagnosis. My white cell count was also a little elevated, but there was no evidence of any infection... etc.

While it is very possible he may have CFS, like was said before there's many other possible causes. Unfortunately, there's no test to run for CFS, you have to rule everything else out first.
