Hi everyone my name is Jaime, I am 28 years old with 2 children 9 and 7 months. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 2 years ago, however after reading up on CFS I feel I may have this also. I read that this diease can cause swollen lymph nodes. Has anyone heard of the nodes near the collar bone becoming enlarged due to this illness? about 2-3 weeks ago I had horrible pain in both shoulders and was extremely tired.. I mean unbarable, the pain started to subside, but I noticed I had these lumps near the collar bone on the left side, I went to 3 doc's they sent me for blood work and an MRI, Blood work was fine and the MRI showed "2 small lesion, most likely representing 2 tiny lynoh nodes about the size of 5mm" now everything I ahve read on the net has been very scarey about nodes in this area. The doc's did not seem concerned since they are smaller then 1cm?? However I am going out of my mind with fear.

So if anyone has any info on this please respond ASAP

Thank you so much for your time.. I just want to go back to myself and enjoy my life with my children and stop worrying about this so much

Hi Jamie and welcome. I am sorry about your health problems. I have 2 young kids too and I know how hard it can be to be sick when you have young children. My lymph nodes do get swollen a lot which is a sign of CFS. I'm not sure if these are the nodes you are talking about but the lymph nodes at the very bottom of my neck close to my shoulder blades do get swollen when I feel really sick. I would talk to your doctor about CFS and see what your doc thinks about that diagnosis. There are a lot of similarities between fibro and CFS, but there are also some differences. thank you so much for your response, I was wondering if you could be a little more specific in the area where your nodes get swollen, you said near your shoulder blades, do you mean in the back of your neck? I am referring to the arearight above the collar bone, like I was rubbing my shoulder/ neck I can feel the little node move up and roll back under my collar bone?? Again thank you so much for your reply. Like I said I have 2 small children ages 9 and 7 months and I feel aweful not being able to give them all my attention right now, all I can do and think about is this, I am so scared I have some kind of cancer that is going to take me away from them. I am to young for this.. I am only 28.. I should be enjoying life.

Honey, Please, You are the same age as me, I don't have kids, so my situation is easier than yours , but these things pass, I think fibro and CFS, are terms used for patients who are sick and don't fit the normal criteria for diagnoses.  You are young, and as long as you have been tested for everything else, you will get past what you are goingt through.  I am 28 yrs old and Ive been sick for the past 9 months, Not one doctor can reallly say why, but I am getting better, so don't get into the theory that you wont get better, because you will!!!!  CFS/fibro is real, but I don't think you will be sick forever!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie, my swollen lymph nodes are on both sides of my neck. They run down both sides of my neck all the way to the bottom of both sides of my neck right above my collar bone. I'm not sure that I've given you a very good visual. I guess I haven't worried too much about mine because mine get swollen everytime I get really worn out and sick and have ever since I had mono in 1985. It's probably wise to keep an eye on yours and get them checked every so often, especially if they change at all. Most likely they are just swollen nodes and nothing to worry about , but it is always a good idea to keep an eye on things. Like aquarias said, there is always hope that you might feel better. I went into a remission for about 10 years and was able to live a fairly normal life, although I required more rest than most people. Then about 2 years after my youngest child was born I got sick again and a lot of my bloodwork has now tested positive for lupus, but there is also hope of remission too with lupus.
