What r the most common symptoms of CFS?

Is fatigue always present? What causes CFS?

Is it common in people from Europe more?

Violet gave you some great information. I really hope you can get this figured out and start feeling better. Do you know if your friend had mono anytime around the time you were involved in kissing? If your friend had mono or active EBV, it is very likely that you caught it too. Your symptoms do sound a lot like mono/EBV, but like violet said, these symptoms are present in a lot of other illnesses too, that is why it is difficult to diagnose sometimes. I wish the doctor would have done some bloodwork for mono and EBV. I'm glad you are seeing an infectious disease doc in September, although that probably seems like a long time to wait when you are worried and not feeling well. hey,manapart yea i see you over the hiv forum, your symptoms sound alot like mono like hippimom stated i had chills low grade fever muscle aches and pains weak sore ribs near spleen and liver a couple white spots on inner cheek tingling feelings in arms and legs which i still get pressure in my head in the back, photosensitive, i had a lyme hiter done it came back negative but that was about 1 week before i got really bad im still left mainly with fatigue,muscle weakness and pains,itchy skin sometime, i think i may get tested for lyme does this sound like lyme at all i know i had a positve monospot may1st but still feeling weak and achy and sometime itchy.

man_apart, I can certainly understand why you are nervous about all of this especially since your former friend won't talk to you anymore. The infectious disease doc is a great place to start and s/he should do some pretty extensive testing. When I had mono/EBV it was a pretty severe case and my lymph nodes remained swollen and sore for a very long time and they still swell up very easily, especially when I am worn down (which is also part of CFS). It took a very long time (longer than usual) for me to get my health back and I was really never the same. I met someone a little while ago who has what's called chronic mono/EBV and his EBV levels won't go down and it has continued to stay active for almost 2 years. I'd really be interested to hear what the infectious disease doc has to say. Please keep us updated and let us know if you have any other questions.

yes thank you violets actaully sometime in april or may i went out in the woods i live near pittsburgh pa and came home about 10 hours later i looked on my leg cause i felt something crawling sure enough it was a tick i was freaking out i ripped my pants off woke up my g/f found another 1 in my inner part of pants this time but it didn't feel like i got bit well maybe a lil itchy eewww and goosebumps now i hate ticks but they weren't swelled up either or embedded in my skin but i still kinda got a gut feeling it may be lyme, and man apart i think it just may be mono and the stress is prolongin it i am on a antidepressant cause i'm in your same shoes and i still freak out over hiv i had a few unprotected encounters my g/f tested negative for all the stds but im too scared but i know stress and anxiety can cause alot of symptoms i have severe stress and anxiety but i think the lexapro and xanax are helpin me out a bit, but take care and i hope you feel better which i think you will also i been drinkin alot of green tea and was takin garlic just eatin it raw when i had been diagnosed with the mono seemed to help somewhat

I have a quick questions plz. If what i experienced was EPV infection, (mono) for the first time , is it possible to have the glands in my neck swollen even after all the other symptoms go away? is it possible to have them swollen for 2 months? Thanks.

Yes, it is possible. I had mono 20 years ago and to this day the glands in my neck swell when my fatigue is severe. Sometimes I have heard that the glands just stay swollen for some people. How have you been feeling lately?

I have no sympomts now hippimom except for one large swollen node under my left ear and 3 more nodes on my jaw line (not so swollen) but i can feel them. Occasionaly i feel fatigued but nothing out of the ordinary, my lymph nodes hurt in my armpit on and off. Does this sound normal if 3 months ago i had mono for the first time?

Depending on how severe your mono was it can take quite a while for the nodes to go down, but I would think it would be a good idea to get things re-checked pretty soon especially if some of the nodes are still painful - make sure you don't have any infection in your body anywhere.
