Withdrawal Question

I have a question, I have been on vicodin for about a year now everday atleast 2 a day or more. Since my doctors have now decided I am a pill popper they refuse to refil my prscription. I have asked them about withdrawal, they said "You have nothing to worry about, you wont get any witdrawal from it" I know i will because one time i went 2 days witout any because they would not refil my script unless I went in so i did after waiting to get an appoitment. I was so sick from not having my meds. I told them it was witdrawal they said No it was in my head. So then i called the pharmacy and asked them and they said the same thing, there is no such thing as witdrawal from vicodin.

So my question is, IS IT IN MY HEAD? Am i really not withdrawing? I know that i will be soon since i will not be taking any of the meds they have been prescirbing me since he is cutting me off cold turkey with out weaning me he thinks its unnecessary.

Any help would be appreciated. I have two young kids and I really do ot want them seeing me sick in bed for a while. They know mommy is in pain all the time as it is, but they dont need to see me go through withdrawal.

WHY would your doc think you were a pill popper if you were taking 2 a day ( or more) ......If you dont mind how may is more .......u dont have to answer that if u dont want to ......

I went to my doc over wanting to cut back on my OXYCONTIN by 20 mgs and I have done it and yes it was not easy at all but I DID IT and so have others...........I know what you mean about your kids seeing you sick all the time and they dont need this too .....My Cait is a teen and I told her I might be crabby and sick so no to worry if I was a wee bit grumpy it was not her it was me ..lol .....so we got thru it ...n yep I was grumpy and not to sociable but she understood .......

I do hope you will as well .......

I KNOW my W/D was not in my head but this is a different med......still my ex does go thru w/d SX and does get sick or did when he was taking up to 10 in a day ( 12 14 hr period ....he has really bad knees from being a Goalie in the Minors ..........

NOW there is always plenty( as I keep some here for him of his ...) so this does not happen anymore as I dont like to see anyone in PAIN if it is not preventable ya know

Thanks the more i meant was when i first started my old doc had me on 6-8 a day. I never took more than that. Just in the last 3 months or so i have been on 2-3 pills a day no more than that. I went today without any and felt a little sick and yucky so i am hoping tomorrow is better. I do have about 10-12 left, I just dont want to take anymore, I feel they do not help me and make me feel so dependent on them to not be in pain. So i went out and bought myself Tylenol Arthrtis and see how that works for me.

Hi Jess,

Congratulations on making it thru that first day and on to the next. Cutting back is a touch decision but getting cut off is unforgivable. The doc should at least taper you. Just shows all docs aren't compassionate. At least you're going to make it.
