has anyone had experience with methadone causing depression to increase? I mean to unbearable levels?

No, but I would strongly suggest you call your doctor first thing Monday morning if you are experiencing depression like that from the medication.
Can I ask what happened with the stimulator since you have had to try it now, three times. Or is it three times trying to get it to work correctly?

It's taken three tries to get the stimulator to work properly. it kept slipping out of position the first two times and I've come to realize the pain I've been experiencing stems from the Crohnes and not from the back injury. So, after all the hassle of the surgeries it's not helping much at all. I wish I could give you a more informative answer.

I would contact your doctor first thing tomorrow morning about the depression with the methadone and find out what he suggests.
As far as the scs goes, I've read over and over about the leads slipping and not giving the same coverage as one might get during the trial. I'm sure that doesn't help with the depression .
I'm sorry that you have had to deal with that as well.
Are you on medication for the Chrone's Syndrome and does it help? I am not that familiar with it but do know that it causes serious pain for sufferers.
Please let us know how you make out with the doctor tomorrow.

well, I called the doctor's office just to find out he not in the office today. I did give the information. as much as I hate to hear the bull I'm gonna get from him I hate the depression so much worse. I stopped taking the methadone on Saturday. so far the withdrawals are minor I guess since I was on a lower dose this time but the effects of it when it got into my system wasn't that minimal so I can deal with the effects of coming off cold turkey.

Be careful with the cold turkey approach. I asked my doc for possible alternatives to opiats for CP and he named Methadone as one option. I declined out of ignorance but since then all I've read about it is that it is a serious medicine so please follow your doc's lead as far as interupting your meds. I don't have any specific advice regarding the increased depression but I agree with everyone else's suggestion to contact you doc and let him know in no uncertain terms about the tough time with depression. I have found several meds have the same effect on me. Knowing that it is "artificial" has helped me keep it in perspecive somewhat until I can find a fix. "Kinda" like the jitters from coffee....you feel very anxious but you know you're not worried... just wired. That knowledge doesn't make the jitters go away but it helps keep them in perspective. Best to you.

John,
Methadone has a long half life, so withdrawal symptoms are delayed by a few days. I don't know how much methadone you are taking but please be careful about stopping a medication abruptly.

you should have asked to talk with a nurse if you were going to do that . you should never do anything cold turkey .

  I agree, but it was on a Friday, after-hours. they close early on Fridays and there's nobody to talk to, at the office come Friday afternoon. seems like if anything is going to go wrong it always happens on Friday afternoons.

 That stupid doctors office finally called me back yesterday. only about a week too late eyes .

Everything is fine now, just took a little time to get past it. I'm supposed to go in next month to see if there's anything we can substitute the methadone with.

Hi John,

There is a few of us this forum that has cd. A yr ago this past June by way of scope I was also dx'd with UC, just great, huh. I did Remicade for almost 4 yrs every 4 weeks, that was the only way I could ger relief. They have since learned the infusions need to be tailored to the persons needs. Remicade lost its punch with me. I am on 100mg of Imuran, 9mg of Entocorte and I am also on Lialda. Can't remember the dose of Lialda. I have done fairly well with this regime. I went on Imuran because my gi says it enhances the effects of the Remicade, good for our arthritis somewhat and of course the gut too. What are you on for your CD? Susie

at the moment, I'm only on the Remicade. I'm supposed to get the scope in a couple of weeks to see how things are going. I'm very curious to see what it has to say. it's been three years since the last one.
