Hi Sue Dave z here. I have only had a short experience with the fentanyl patch 5 days. I read the instructions to see where to place the patch. There was a picture which potrayed the upper chest area as a good place for them. Since i was only on the 25mg patch I was surprised at my reaction to this med as i staggered around in a fog. So I quickly went off the patch thinking i am way to sensitive for them and assumed that the 25mg was the lowest amount available. Also thinking from the instructions definitely not to cut the patches up and the bad consiquences of doing so. However this week I had my wife pick up some of my prescript
ions at the pharmacy and she related my problem with the patch to the pharmacist who stated that they also came in 12.5mg's. So I am going to ask my pcp about
trying that amount when i next see him. The pharmacist asked my wife where i placed the patch and she mentioned, upper chest. The pharmacist stated well no wonder he was loopy because that area has less muscle to dilute the dose. She recommended i try the 12.5mg and place it on the upper arm on the outer side as there is more muscle there to absorb and dilute the med. Hope this helps.
