Ruth,my dh is taking me friday morning to the pm. so that crisis solved. I have to find  a new insurance though . I have to pay 100  dollars to see my orginal pm  though .  I will be paying 60 dollars for my pain meds though .  I need to find  another insurance  company. It is hard finding one with pre exsisting conditions. I hope you have a lpd.

Kara I am so glad that you get to go. I hate it that it is going to cost so much as we have so very little to survive on to begin with and then to have to pay out of pocket for an office visit is just going to force us to have to do without something else this month for sure.

Insurance is sky high anyway and I honestly dont know how folks pay it. I am lucky in the respect that I qualified for medicare immediatly when I was awarded SSD as they backed up the 2 years on disablity dates so that made me eligable right then. I no longer qulaified for medicaid as I exceeded the income levels on SSD.

Do you now qualify for medicaid or any part of it? Does your spouse not have any insurance offered at his place of employement? Sometimes medicaid can offer a partial program to offset some of the costs and can even offer what they call a spendown card to those who have a medical emergency and have no insurance but dont usually qualify for medcaid and this card is only good for like 30-90 days worth of benefits and usually has a set amount to limit but it is worht a looking into.

I wish you luck Friday and hope this Doc helps you as it is even worse for us when we pay out of pcoket and get a Doc who does nothing!

Ruth I do qualify for the spendown program but I have to pay the first 200 dollars and still if I did that  there is no guarantee they will pay for the rest of the bill . It was just not worth it . I think free healthcare should be entitled to everyone no matter if they can pay or not. Health care is just outrageous. like right now I think I have strep throat and dont know if I even can afford to go to the family dr. My Hubby is also sick with the bug going around they call the crud. I hope you have a lpd.

I agree with you as for the healthcare situation in this Country is horrid. No one should ever have to face not getting treated due to ability to pay. I know all hospitals have to treat regardless but that is not good health care and only a bandaide treatment.

Try finding a new Doctor dor yourself or children without insurance that doesnt require an arm and leg up front to be seen and then a hefty office visit payment each time your seen and forget a specialist that is totally out of the question for most folks paying out of pocket.

Even the medcaid system being revised and revamped to cover more folks would be a starting place,if you dont have a child under a certain age or not pregnant then you dont qulaify and if you have any income over $285 a month then you dont qualify anyway here in KY. Even a part time job that doesnt offer benefits make more then that!
